Celebrity weddings are frequently impressive affairs — especially when they take place at major world landmarks.
From ancient castles to sprawling private estates, couples like Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have chosen to go big or go home when it comes to their wedding venue.
The actress and the musician, who tied the knot in December 2018, selected a royal palace in India for their two back-to-back weddings. The couple booked the exclusive venue shortly before saying "I do."
“We decided on the venue for our wedding in October, and we got married on December 1,” Chopra told ELLE UK in July 2019. “We had one and a half months to plan, so we were just like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, let’s get it.’ And suddenly we were like, ‘Oh god.’ ”
“It was very extravagant,” she added. “Hopefully, you just do it once, so it’s fine.”

On Dec. 17, 1994, Céline Dion and René Angélil married at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montréal. The lavish wedding was broadcast live on television in Canada so that the entire nation could watch the beloved singer walk down the aisle.
For the special occasion, Dion wore a silk ballgown designed by Mirella and Steve Gentile that was covered in hand-sewn crystal and pearl embellishments. She paired the dress with an ornate headpiece made of 2,000 Swarovski crystals that weighed over 6 lbs.
In an April 2024 video with Vogue, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer reminisced about how special the day was. “This is a moment that will be with me for the rest of my life,” she said. “The dress couldn’t have been big enough. I could’ve had three times the size on my head. I could’ve had six different dresses that night because he was, and still is, such a wonderful human being.”
Dion added, “He brought [out] the best in me. He really did.”

Princess Diana and King Charles

Princess Diana and then-Prince Charles — now King Charles — said "I do" at St. Paul's Cathedral on July 29, 1981, in what was later dubbed "the wedding of the century." The former couple became husband and wife in front of 3,500 guests, with a record-breaking 750 million viewers tuning in to watch the televised event from home. It was the first royal event to take place at the historic cathedral since 1501.
According to Charles, St. Paul’s Cathedral was chosen as the wedding venue for functional and aesthetic reasons. While speaking to British television networks, the royal said he felt the "spectacular" acoustics would provide an auditory experience that would be "stirring, dramatic and noisy" for guests. Charles reportedly added, ''If you have something rather quiet, you start hearing your ankles cricking, you know what I mean?''
Charles also cited space as a concern — he wanted enough room for an orchestra and a world-famous choir — and declared that the cathedral was "more beautiful" than Westminster Abbey, according to the 1998 book The Real Diana by Lady Colin Campbell.

In December 2018, Chopra and Jonas tied the knot in a multi-day extravaganza in India with not one but two celebrations at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The couple hosted a Christian ceremony on Dec. 1, followed by a Hindu ceremony on Dec. 2.
Chopra later described their nuptials as a dream come true, telling PEOPLE, "Walking out and seeing him standing at the altar for the first time with the sun behind him was just something out of a fairytale for me. As much as we planned, I could not have planned for how perfect that sky was or how the birds flew when the music started or what the string quartet sounded like or what he looked like. Everything was perfect."
Jonas added, "From the moment I saw her walk out and a million other moments, 'Wow' is the only word that came to mind."

On July 4, 1999, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham got married at Luttrellstown Castle in Dublin, Ireland. Nestled on a private 560-acre estate, the 15th-century castle reportedly cost $800,000 to book.
While only 29 guests were invited to the Beckhams’ ceremony, around 230 people reportedly attended their reception. The newlyweds sat on gold thrones and had their first dance to Frank Sinatra's "It Had to Be You." Victoria later reflected on the big day while speaking at an event hosted by The Business of Fashion in 2022.
"I think that the media glamorized the wedding much more than it actually was,” the fashion designer said. “I love to have fun. I work very very hard. I take what I do very seriously. I want to be a great wife, a really great mum, but I wanna have fun as well. Sometimes my tongue-in-cheek sense of humor does tend to get me in trouble, but the wedding wasn't as huge as everybody made it out [to be].”

Though John Lennon and Yoko Ono's wedding wasn't a lavish affair, the duo did become husband and wife against the backdrop of one of the world’s most famous landmarks: the Rock of Gibraltar. On March 20, 1969, the couple exchanged vows in secret at the British Consulate in Gibraltar.
"It was very romantic,” Lennon told author Jann Werner for Lennon Remembers, per Rolling Stone.
He went on, "Gibraltar was like a little sunny dream. I couldn't find a white suit — I had sort of off-white corduroy trousers and a white jacket. Yoko had all white on."
