Tyler Robinson was quickly identified as the primary suspect and alleged shooter in the killing of Charlie Kirk last year. Two days into the manhunt to locate a person of interest, Donald Trump announced that law enforcement tracked him down on September 12, 2025.
“I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him — in custody,” Trump told Fox News at the time, adding that “everyone did a great job we worked with the local police, the governor, everybody did a great job.”
The late Turning Point USA founder was fatally shot on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University. According to witnesses at the event, Kirk was answering an audience member’s question about mass shootings in America. Seconds later, he was struck by a bullet, and blood was seen pouring down his neck. Though security rushed him to a hospital, Kirk died later that day. He is survived by his wife, Erika, their two children, his parents and the rest of his family.
