It’s time to say goodbye to the Russo family again.
Following Wizards of Waverly Place’s original run from 2007 to 2012, the franchise returned with a sequel series titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place in 2024, which centered around Justin Russo (David Henrie)’s family. After two seasons, the series will conclude with its third and final season on Aug. 4, with the return of quite a few familiar faces, including Alex Russo (Selena Gomez), Mason (Gregg Sulkin) and Harper (Jennifer Stone).
Throughout the beloved Disney show’s four-season run, we watched the Russo family bloom into amazing people who enhance their world with magic. From funny mishaps to radical acceptance, it became clear that the family that casts spells together stays together.
With Gomez at the helm of the cast portraying Alex, the carefree sibling who learns to harbor her magical skills and use them in more ethical ways, we watched life through Alex’s eyes. It’s not easy being a teenager who is a secret magical practitioner — even if her BFF and brood know and support her. All the more reason why calamity ensues and the drama continues to level up.
The iconic series changed the game for tweens everywhere, even eliciting laughs from adults who found humor in the comical mishaps, and continues to linger in the hearts of many, which is why we can use astrology to gain a new understanding of the characters.

Aries: Mason Greyback

Mason is a werewolf whose impulsive and erratic nature pulls him closer to Alex but also creates the off-again, on-again relationship. This zodiac sign has a flippant and emotionally changeable reputation like Mason’s because they are the first Fire sign of the zodiac, which explains the correlation between him and Aries. Nonetheless, the ram and Mason are romantic and passionate.
Taurus: Jerry Russo

Jerry is a fun-loving dad who pays less attention to the rules and more to how his children feel. Taurus is a zodiac sign that is known to be rigid but endearing due to its charm and tenderness. His practical wisdom guides the family. Jerry is also a foodie, which relates to the Earth sign’s love of indulgence and decadence.
Gemini: Mr. Laritate

Mr. Laritate is a vibe in himself, with a unique demeanor that is seen as both goofy and sincere. Gemini is known for its duality, which Mr. Laritate represents; he is the principal who doesn’t like to reprimand his students, particularly Alex. He rules the school with an understanding of the children and without an iron fist, but with boundaries.
Cancer: Harper Finkle

Harper is Alex’s best friend who later goes on to date Justin, her brother. She is extremely loyal, never revealing Alex’s or the Russo family’s secret, which links her to the sign Cancer. The zodiac is a ride-or-die that will never leave the side of those they care about, like Harper. Further, they both share a unique flair for fashion.
Leo: Alex Russo

Alex is such a Leo; she has a larger-than-life personality, which makes her the focus of the show and the Russo family. Upon realizing her powers, Alex uses them to create drama; however, she definitely tones it down as the series continues. The zodiac sign Leo would probably do the same if they had immense magic to get their way.
Virgo: Juliet Van Heusen

Juliet begins dating Justin in this show, and even though their families are rivals, their Romeo-and-Juliet love affair brings them together (it’s the fuel that builds the bridge). Her age is a few thousand, showcasing the down-to-earth demeanor that aligns her with Virgo, the astrological component that makes her chill and understanding (aside from being over two thousand years old).
Libra: Zeke Beakerman

Zeke is Justin’s best friend, who also dates Harper for a while. In the show, he is often depicted as quirky but cool. Zeke is into cheerleading, aliens, and drama, making him a well-rounded Libra. This sign takes on a multitude of artistic forms and stays true to the people in their lives, as seen through the camaraderie with Justin.
Scorpio: Justin Russo

Like most Scorpios, Justin is an overachiever who shows off his talents. With a birthday of Oct. 24, he fits into the timeline of the Water sign, enhancing his power as a wizard and his ability to help his sister Alex with her problems controlling her magic. Similarly to Scorpio, Justin isn’t one to mince words by keeping it real.
Sagittarius: Kelbo Russo

Kelbo Russo, who is also known as Uncle Kelbo, doesn’t play by the rules; in fact, he lives every day to the fullest and on his whims, making him most associated with the Fire sign Sagittarius. The two have much in common because they choose to be the life of the party without dealing with the repercussions of their actions.
Capricorn: Theresa Russo

As the mortal mother of Alex, Justin and Max, she is determined to run a house and business where magic does not roll. She is sensible and logical, like a Capricorn, which juxtaposes the whimsical and enchanting family she belongs to. Capricorn would be the one to create guidelines and structure in this rare situation — for the good of everyone.
Aquarius: Stevie Nichols

If there were ever a punk witch of Waverly, it would totally be Stevie. She becomes an acquaintance after being frenemies with Alex (the two are seemingly polar opposites) and is a rebel in her own way, practicing her unique blend of magic and refusing to be boxed in. Aquarius is similar to Stevie, which is why they are linked together.
Pisces: Max Russo

Max marches to the beat of his own drum, connecting him with the sign Pisces (his birthday is March 15). The Water sign swims to its own path, which is usually not the norm for getting to where they need to go. Pisces tend to figure everything out in their own time due to their intuition, like how Max evolves.
