Utah Jazz player Trey Alexander left the basketball court on a stretcher after a drive in the last quarter of a game.
The incident happened during the fourth quarter of an NBA Summer League game at the Thomas & Mack Center in Nevada between the Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls on Monday, July 13.
The 23-year-old guard could be seen running toward the hoop with the ball in hand and attempting to shoot, when he and Bulls player Caleb Wilson made contact with each other, as seen in a video obtained by ESPN.
Alexander could then be seen holding his side as he moved further away from the court and slid to the ground. His face twisted in pain as he continued to clutch at his side while on the floor as someone ran over to check on him.

The clip then cut to show Alexander on a stretcher with a neck brace on as several medical personnel surrounded him and helped wheel him out. He could be seen clutching at his side in pain.
The commentators noted that Alexander “delivered the contact” with Wilson during a drive toward the hoop, but appeared to take “the worst of it.” They noted through a playback that he initiated the contact and stayed on his feet before he went down “grabbing at his side.”
The incident occurred with just over two minutes left in the fourth quarter, according to Associated Press. However, the Jazz eventually walked away with the win, with a final score of 80-63.
The Utah Jazz have not yet shared an update on the player, who signed a one-year, two-way contract with the team just last week, according to CBS Sports.
