The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback’s future at CBS Sports as its lead NFL analyst is unknown after his July 23 arrest

Tony Romo is facing three new citations in connection with his July 23 arrest for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
On Thursday, Aug. 27, the former NFL quarterback was issued citations for alleged first offense operating while intoxicated, unsafe passing on the right side and possessing open intoxicants inside his vehicle, according to court records reviewed by PEOPLE.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was first to report the news.
“Tony accepts full responsibility for his actions and has taken proactive steps to ensure that this isolated civil matter is properly resolved,” a Romo spokesperson said in a statement obtained by the newspaper. “We are working with local authorities to bring this matter to a close and we are communicating with CBS about next steps.”

Romo, 46, was arrested in Milwaukee at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 23 after he was pulled over along Interstate 43.

The retired Dallas Cowboys star and elite amateur golfer was in his home state for a golf tournament at the time.
Authorities noted he performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests, and bodycam footage from the scene indicated that he refused a breathalyzer test.
Romo’s future at CBS Sports as its lead NFL game analyst is up in the air after the network put him leave “until further notice” on July 31.
Earlier this month, CBS Sports president David Berson said the former quarterback’s fate was still to be determined.
“It’s an evolving situation, and therefore we’re still assessing,” Berson said at the NFL on CBS media day, according to The New York Times. “There’s no timetable or final decision at this time.”
He added, “I hope you can respect and appreciate this is a personal matter and a legal one.”
