- Dave Franco teased his gross-out scene in his new comedy, Idiots, during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE
- In the scene, “liquid’s coming out of every end of me,” per Franco, who says he doesn’t “want to fully give it away”
- Franco and O’Shea Jackson Jr. play men hired to escort a teenager (Mason Thames) to rehab in the film
Dave Franco had to get his hands — and other body parts — dirty on the set of his latest movie.
Liquid was “coming out of every end of me,” the 41-year-old actor teases while opening up to PEOPLE about his grossest scene in Idiots, a new comedy from director Macon Blair, alongside costars Mason Thames and O’Shea Jackson Jr.
In Idiots, Franco plays Mark, one of two men hired to transfer a rich teenager named Sheridan (Thames) to rehab; Jackson, 35, plays the other. The trio goes through a lot in the film — but one scatologically humorous scene involving Franco stands out as the grossest.
The costars discuss the moment during their chat with PEOPLE after Jackson reveals that “a trucker threw a bag of feces outside of his truck” during his first day on set — which Franco admits “was kind of foreshadowing for a few moments in this film.”

“Dave saw that and improvised. It’s fantastic,” Thames ribs, referring to Franco’s gross-out scene. Running with the joke, Franco adds, “I improvised a moment where liquid’s coming out of every end of me.”
“Specifically his butt,” Thames interjects.
“So that was memorable, for sure,” Franco says of the scene, which the star says he only wants to “tease” ahead of Idiots‘ release on Friday, Aug. 28. “I don’t want to fully give it away,” he says of the stool-centric shot. Still, he shares some fun (and gross) tidbits with PEOPLE.
The day he shot the gross-out, Franco says, “was early enough in the film though where I made myself look like such a s—head that I think I endeared myself to the crew where they’re like, ‘Oh, this guy is willing to do anything. Let’s go. We’re all in this together.’ ”
“It was wonderful,” the Together star says of filming the moment. “We did it twice. We nailed it on the first take, but we were like, ‘Now that we got it, should we just add, like, a little texture to the substance that comes out of me?’ ”
“So they brought in some, I think it was like Cocoa Krispies, that they crunched up… We’ll leave it there. I don’t want to say anything else,” Franco adds with a laugh.

Of the second take, Thames jokes, “Dave said, ‘Let me try another.’ ”
The How to Train Your Dragon actor also tells PEOPLE that watching Franco — who he first costarred with in Regretting You — film the scene was something special. “That was one of the greatest things I’ve ever witnessed, was watching that,” he says.
