It's the end of the road for one of The Rookie's own.
In the April 27 episode of the ABC series, Monica (Bridget Regan) met her end. The lawyer who had been double-crossing the feds and criminals was shot and killed after what she thought was an escape plan, orchestrated by Aiden (Tim Griffin).
Regan, 44, was "not surprised" by her character's fate, she told TV Insider, after Monica had "escaped multiple assassinations and prison time and being thrown in a wood chipper."
"When her number was finally up, I wasn’t surprised. I thought, fair enough. She’s had an amazing run, four years on this show. I’m only filled with gratitude," Regan said. "I was thrilled that she lasted as long as she did. If you play with fire, as long as she has, eventually you’re going to get burned."
"I felt like it was inevitable. Either at some point, she was going to go to jail, or she was going to die," she continued.

Showrunner Alexi Hawley had told Regan that her character would get a "Viking death," but the actress said she was "surprised by…just how incredibly sad I was for her."
"Not that she died, but that she never truly flipped, that she actually succumbed to the dark side and couldn’t find her way back. And I felt like there was this version of Monica that could have been something else, but she just could never get there. So to me, that was the real heartbreak of it all," Regan told the outlet.
She said she was "an absolute mess" filming her final scene. "I really had to hold it back and keep it together," Regan admitted. "But it was also just the beauty of the writing. I have to give it up to Brynn and Alexi. It was just such a stunning scene."
What she's "most sad about" is that she won't play Monica anymore. "I just love her. I’m going to miss her," she said.

The show is based on the true story of LAPD officer William "Bill" Norcross, who continues to serve in the LAPD and is an executive producer.
Along with Regan and Fillion, Jenna Dewan, Eric Winter, Alyssa Diaz, Mekia Cox and Melissa O'Neil also star in The Rookie.
