Prince William and Kate Middleton were spotted for the first time since news broke that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are moving back to the UK.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were photographed driving in Balmoral, King Charles’ Aberdeenshire residence, on Friday morning, in pictures obtained by the Sun.
In addition to the couple, royal family Prince Edward, Mike Tindall, Zara Tindall and Princess Anne were also spotted outside the Scotland estate.
Page Six confirmed the Sussexes will return to Britain at the end of the month for “an extended period” with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, who will be enrolled in school there.
“The palace was made aware of the move,” a source confirmed on Wednesday.
Insiders claimed Harry and Markle wanted to be closer to King Charles and give their children the opportunity to build family relationships.
Charles, who has cancer, was informed of the decision just four days before the news broke, despite reuniting with the Sussexes and their children in England several weeks prior.
However, we’re told the 77-year-old monarch is excited to spend more time with his youngest son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
William and Middleton, for their part, haven’t publicly commented on the move, which is expected to cause problems for the future king.
“It’s a huge slap in the face for William, and it does also create serious risks for the monarchy,” royal reporter Tom Sykes exclusively told Page Six.
Sykes also said that, given the longstanding feud between William and Harry, the move will create a “huge succession” of additional “challenges” for William.
Another royal insider, Kinsey Schofield, claimed William’s circle believes “money and inheritance are part of the calculation” for Harry and Markle’s impending move.
“There is a suspicion within Prince William’s orbit that Harry and Meghan understand the clock is ticking and want to re-establish their position, influence, and proximity to the monarchy while Charles is still King,” Schofield told Page Six.
He added that William “will be much less accommodating” as king, so Harry is moving “as an attempt to get a foot back in the door before” his brother takes the throne.
Harry famously dragged his family in his bombshell interviews with Oprah Winfrey and Netflix, as well as in his 2023 memoir, “Spare.”
Additionally, Markle made claims accusing royal family members of racism when the couple sat down with Winfrey in 2021.
In response, William and Middleton have severed ties with Markle and Harry completely, and evidently have no plans to make amends despite the Sussexes’ recent reconciliation with Charles.
