Prince Harry is reportedly working on a potential documentary about his late mother, Princess Diana, commemorating the 30th anniversary of her death.
Harry has approached some of Diana’s friends and also her younger brother, Earl Spencer, to take part in a potential film, the Telegraph reported Monday.
However, no project has been confirmed.
“He is still considering the most meaningful way to honor her legacy during this important anniversary year,” a source told the outlet, adding that he’s discussed a number of possible projects aside from a film.
According to the outlet, the film would likely be produced by Harry and his wife Meghan Markle’s Archewell Productions, and would probably be bought by Netflix, given the couple’s multi-year, first-look deal with the streamer.
Page Six has reached out to Harry’s rep for comment, but didn’t receive an immediate response back.
Earlier this month, the Daily Mail also reported that Harry is planning to make a movie about Diana, claiming that it’s one of the reasons he moved back to the UK in August.
Daily Mail’s Senior Editor-at-Large Richard Kay alleged the Duke of Sussex “has been reaching out to his friends and others who knew” his mom, and “asking them to contribute.”
The royal expert noted, “Let’s not forget who Harry spent time with when he was here in July, it was Diana’s family at Althorp.”
Kay also claimed that Harry’s older brother, Prince William, isn’t happy with the potential film, and is frustrated with “people always linking Harry to Diana.”
“She was the mother of two boys,” he noted. “William is just as much his mother’s son as Harry is, and Harry has tried to claim the Diana legacy for himself.”
Although William, 44, and Harry, 41, worked together on the “Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy” documentary in 2017 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her death, the brothers have now been estranged for years.
Diana died on Aug. 31, 1997, due to injuries she sustained in a car crash in Paris, France, while being pursued by paparazzi.
She was 36 years old.
Spencer compared his late sister’s dealings with the press to Harry and Markle’s current experience in an interview with the BBC about his new book, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,” out Tuesday.
“If you look at an article in a tabloid about Diana or the couple that you’re mentioning, Harry and Meghan, they can be really, really unpleasant,” he noted.
“I think it would be really beholden on people to learn from Diana’s example,” he continued.
