Pete Davidson is opening up about his early career.

During a live taping of Netflix’s The Pete Davidson Show, which took place on Wednesday, April 22, at New York’s Capitol Theatre, the 32-year-old admitted he doesn’t remember much about when he was starting out.

“I was such a drug addict. I don't remember what I was like or what the time was like,” he told guest Sam Morril.

When Morrill questioned what drugs he took, Davidson said that he smoked weed “all the time,” even though he knew it was bad for him.

Davidson went on to say that although he never really drank alcohol, he started taking pills, acid and ketamine when he started doing TV, explaining he suffered from anxiety.

He then joked to the audience that he kept up his drug addiction for a long time until he turned 30.

In September 2023, Davidson opened up about getting clean during a comedy show with John Mulaney and Jon Stewart in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The Saturday Night Live alum opened the set by addressing his recent stint in rehab.

“I am fresh out of rehab, everyone,” he told the crowd at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s Ettes Arena. “I got that post-rehab glow. Seventh time’s the charm!”

Davidson revealed he took ketamine, a dissociative drug used medically as an anesthetic, daily for four years.

“It was magical,” he told the crowd.

The star also noted the drug’s ability to alter his mind, joking that “one time, I got The Wiggles to mesh with Schindler’s List.” He also admitted that he attended Aretha Franklin’s 2018 funeral while high.

At the show with Mulaney, 43, and Stewart, 63, he also reflected on turning 30, telling the audience you “can’t do drugs in your 30s” because “it’s not cute anymore” and “you’re just a drug addict” when you take drugs in your thirties.

In June 2023, PEOPLE confirmed that Davidson checked into rehab to receive inpatient therapy to address issues related to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and borderline personality disorder.

Davidson had confirmed a previous stint in rehab in February 2020 and told Howard Stern he also went to rehab in 2016 because “there was no way [he] could stop” using drugs.

“I was like, somebody has to put me in a house where there is literally nothing,” he said, adding, “I had too much access.”
