Noah Kahan heard the Kidz Bop kids' take on his recent hit song.
The folk-pop artist, 29, released "The Great Divide" in January as the first single off his latest album of the same name, and the Kidz Bop kids covered the song for Kidz Bop 53 last month — with some edits to make the lyrics more kid-friendly.
Kahan's original version of "The Great Divide" opens with the lyric, "I can't recall the last time that we talked about anything but looking out for cops." The first verse also features references to "cigarette burns" and being "high" as well as the phrase "f— off."
The Kidz Bop kids' cover of "The Great Divide" features a different opening lyric: "I can't recall the last time that we talked about anything but hanging with the cops." The children's music act also opted for "rug burns" and being "smart," while swapping the expletive for "get lost."
One of Kahan's fan accounts on X singled out the lyric about "hanging with the cops," which garnered a response from the singer-songwriter himself.
"Such a specific choice," wrote Kahan.
"The Great Divide" isn't the only song that received family-friendly lyric changes on Kidz Bop 53. A cover of Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" features a brand-new title, "A BOP Song (A Shaboozey Cover)," and swaps the "bring another round" lyric in the chorus to "sing another song."
Additionally, the Kidz Bop version of Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" edits a lyric about "drinkin' Jack" to "sittin' here."

The Kidz Bop Kids previously covered Kahan's "Stick Season" in 2024 and changed lyrics about "smokin' weed" to instead reference watching "TV."
"The Great Divide" reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Kahan's album of the same name was released in April and reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
