NEED TO KNOW

  • Elizabeth Siders, 33, is charged with 16 counts of child neglect after deputies raided her home in Ohio, where her 16 children were allegedly confined to one room
  • A new report claims that in 2022, Elizabeth prematurely delivered conjoined twins in 2022 who died of natural causes about an hour after birth
  • Elizabeth’s attorney has confirmed she is the biological mother of all 16 children found in the home, and said he is looking into whether his client, who was married and had her first child at age 15, is also a victim

The mother of 16 children who was arrested after deputies raided an Ohio House of Horrors gave birth to at least two more children who survived for only an hour outside the womb.

Elizabeth Siders, 33, is currently in custody at the Vinton County Jail on a $300,000 bond after being charged with 16 counts of child neglect for each of her children, whose ages range from 18 months to 18 years old, according to a release from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office obtained by PEOPLE.

Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson said at a press conference on July 1 that all 16 children were largely confined to a 12-foot-by-12-foot room inside the home.

“They looked like almost feral animals,” said Wilson. “It was terrible.”

WCMH reports that those 16 children also had at least two siblings who died shortly after they were born.

Elizabeth prematurely delivered conjoined twin girls just 24 weeks into her pregnancy on Nov. 20, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, according to birth certificates obtained by WCMH.

Faith Lee and Bailey Lee Siders passed away just an hour after their mother gave birth, according to death certificates obtained by WCMH, which reportedly list the manner of death as “natural” and the cause of death as respiratory failure for both siblings.

In addition to being premature, birth records reportedly state that the girls were thoracopagus conjoined, meaning they were joined at the chest, face-to-face and likely sharing at least one vital organ.

Those records have not been independently verified by PEOPLE, but the Garrett Cardaras Funeral Home did confirm that a “Faith Lee Siders” and “Baliey Lee Siders” were born and passed away on Nov. 20, 2022. (It is unclear whether the girl was named “Bailey” or “Baliey.”)

The father of the twin girls is listed as Gary Siders II, Elizabeth’s husband, on both records, according to WCMH.

The records obtained by WCMH, along with the amended complaint filed against Elizabeth and obtained by PEOPLE, reveal that Elizabeth has delivered twins in her last four known pregnancies.

She first had twins in February 2022, lost her conjoined twins in November 2022, then again had twins in both January 2024 and January 2025, which was the date of her most recent known birth.

Elizabeth gave birth to her oldest child when she was just 15, the same year she married a then-18-year-old Gary II in West Virginia.

Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain alleged at the news conference on July 1 that the oldest child, an 18-year-old girl, could not write or spell her own name.

“Most of our livestock was kept in better conditions than the children,” Cain said, calling the house a “disgusting scene.”

The raid also resulted in the arrest of Elizabeth’s in-laws, Gary and Christina Siders, who are also charged with 16 counts of child neglect.

Wilson said that even as deputies prepared to raid the household, they did not think there would be 16 children living in the home.

“It’s the type of thing that we’re not used to seeing here in America.”

All four defendants were due in court on July 7 but did not appear after each chose to waive their right to a preliminary hearing.

Outside of the courthouse after that hearing, Elizabeth’s attorney J. Thomas Stolly confirmed that Elizabeth is the biological mother of the 16 children discovered in the home.

Stolly also said that he was trying to determine if she is also a victim in this case.

Records obtained by PEOPLE show that deputies had also been investigating Elizabeth’s husband Gary for multiple alleged incidents of indecent exposure outside the family home in May prior to the raid.

He is still scheduled to appear in court on those unrelated misdemeanor charges on July 9, but there is also a chance that his hearing could be moved to a later date in light of his recent arrest.

As for the child neglect charges, they are now heading to a grand jury that will vote on whether to indict the four adults.
