Jason called his dad Ed “one of a kind”

Jason Kelce was a proud son after his father, Ed Kelce, had a sweet visit with a first grade class.
After Ed spent time reading to first graders through Operation Breakthrough, a charity in Kansas City, on Thursday, Sept. 17, his son Jason spoke highly of his father.
In a post from Operation Breakthrough, an organization that often partners with Ed’s son Travis Kelce’s Eighty-Seven & Running Foundation, Ed can be seen reading to the children and showing them photos on his phone.
“Storytime with a side of Kelce family throwbacks! Ed Kelce stopped by to read to our first graders, then gave them a peek at Travis and Jason when they were little, just like them,” the organization captioned the post.

Jason, 38, reacted to the post a few hours later.
“Poppa Kelce always makes time for the kids. He is a great father, coached little league, helped with hockey (even though he couldn’t skate), was on the chain gang for football, was always lending a hand to help our teams and schools,” Jason wrote on X, calling his dad “one of a kind.”

Operation Breakthrough responded to Jason, writing, “We are so grateful our children get to experience that same kindness! They loved their time with him and getting a peek at you and Travis growing up. ❤️”
Jason and Travis are both very close with their parents, Ed and Donna, and have spoken highly of their father on multiple occasions. On a Feb. 2025 episode of The Steam Room podcast, Jason said Ed was his “role model growing up.”
Jason added, “I thought he was the smartest guy in the world. I thought he was the most impressive human being. Everything he said, I took like it was the God’s truth. He instilled so much of a toughness and a work ethic and a mentality in me and my brother that I’ll always be indebted and grateful to him.”
