I use it at home, too
Wrinkles are the fastest way to ruin an outfit.
So in my family, we do our very best to avoid them. My parents use more traditional methods like pants pressers, irons, and things of that sort, while my brother and I prefer something that takes, well, a lot less time.
Downy’s Wrinkle Releaser Spray, or “wrinkle release” as we’ve called it for years and years, has and will continue to be a non-negotiable in my household. (I’ve been using it for so long, in fact, that the packaging has since changed!) This two-pack costs just $12, meaning each bottle is only $6 apiece.
I always have a ready supply and even bring mini bottles on trips, since it’s like a steamer, static-eliminator, and scent-booster in a single bottle. Plus, it’s cheaper and way simpler than having to fill up a steamer, plug it in, and do manual labor each and every time I need a wrinkle-free outfit. The smaller versions are also so easy to pack and can even fit in a carry-on.

My favorite thing about the Downy Wrinkle Releaser Spray is just how little time it takes to completely transform a crumply-looking shirt or dress into something more presentable. Depending on the state of the piece, it can be totally refreshed in just seconds. And as someone who’s perpetually running out the door at the last minute, this has saved me from countless hours steaming and one too many fashion mishaps.
It’s simple to use, too: All I do is spray the affected spots and run my hands over the wrinkles to smooth them out. That’s quite literally all there is to it! I’ve found that the aerosol cans provide a bit more of a fine, wide-reaching mist, while the more traditional spray bottles are helpful at severely dousing and lifting deeper lines and creases.
Your clothes may look a little soaked in said spot, but after just a minute or two, it dries — zero stains left behind! It also leaves a light, freshly laundered smell, which slowly wears off over time. It does come in a few different scents, but in all the years I've used it, I’ve never actively picked one over the other, nor have I noticed a strong difference between any of them.

Of course, I still have a steamer and iron for very special occasions, but with the Downy Wrinkle Releaser Spray, I almost never need them. I just re-upped my Downy stash since I have a few summer trips coming up, and I suggest you do the same. Keep scrolling to shop more from the brand, plus another alternative I’ve used in rotation over the years, too.
