Stacey Bendet’s daughter Scarlet is making her New York Fashion Week debut.
The Alice + Olivia founder, 47, revealed to PEOPLE at her Spring/Summer 2027 presentation on Thursday, Sept. 10, that her 15-year-old daughter was one of the models for the event — something she called “the biggest news of the night.”
“My daughter, Scarlet, is modeling for the first time. She looks epic. I’m so proud of her,” Bendet said. “I could cry, not [just] for her beauty, but her determination, her work ethic and just, you know, the big kind heart that she has.”

Scarlet wore a minidress made with elaborate gold stitching and a golden hemline. The back of the dress extended into a large train that flared out. During the presentation, the proud mom could be seen laying out the train to her daughter’s dress for photographers to see.
Bendet and Scarlet also posed alongside Athena, 10, and Eloise, 17, whom the designer shares with film producer Eric Eisner.
The fashion designer also revealed that while her daughter initially wasn’t part of the plans for the presentation, things changed when she had Scarlet try on one of the dresses she designed.
“She didn’t even want to [be a part of it]. [But] I was like, ‘Wait, this dress looks so good on you,’ ” she recalled. “I made her try it on. And then I was like, ‘Do you wanna be in the show?’ And she was like, ‘Okay.’ ”
Bendet shared with PEOPLE that her new collection’s theme is “Welcome to Wonderland,” and it was “really about femininity, whimsy, being romantic and all things sparkly.”
“One of the biggest trends for this season is actually really delicate lace, and so I wanted to build that romance out of, like, just complete looks of lace, laced pants, laced tops, laced dresses, laced jackets and also, like, just sparkly little dresses,” she shared.

“That’s why I did the whole room kind of like treats and sweets and cupcakes, because I wanted each of the dresses to feel almost like a pastry,” she continued. “Again, it’s about sparkle and femininity and just having fun with your clothes.”
She said that she wanted the people who wear her designs — including her daughters, who rocked their own versions of her designs — to enjoy fashion.

“It should be fun, guys. It’s fashion,” she said. “Sometimes Fashion Week forgets that. Fashion Week is supposed to be fun. It’s supposed to embrace women, it’s supposed to include women, and it’s supposed to create a world of optimism, escapism and beauty.”
“So, you know, we made a lot of sparkly things here tonight,” she added.
