The latest episode of Deadliest Catch honored a member of the Wizard family.
At the end of the Friday, July 17 episode, Discovery Channel aired a tribute reading, “This episode is dedicated to Monte’s son Gregory Colburn, Wizard crewman 2018–2022,” alongside a video montage of Gregory throughout his time aboard the vessel.
According to his obituary, Gregory died on May 19, 2026. He was 32.
Before finding his passion on the water, Gregory, who grew up in Kings Beach, Calif., worked in restaurants around North Lake Tahoe. His obituary states that he later “found his calling fishing crab on the Bering Sea in Alaska.”

“Gregory was proud of his time at sea and of being on The Discovery Channel reality show Deadliest Catch,” the obituary reads.
Between fishing seasons, Gregory lived in Chico, Calif., where he met his fiancée, Caitlin Nenadal. According to the obituary, Gregory “lived for Caitlin, to whom he was engaged, and for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.”

“Gregory had a heart of gold which shone through his eyes and his smile; his kind heart was rivaled only by his loyalty to his family and friends,” the obituary continues. “Gregory impacted all whose lives he touched and he will be sorely missed.”
Gregory is survived by his fiancée; his daughter Scarlette; his parents, Catherine and Monte Colburn; his grandfather, Martin Urjevich; five siblings; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. No cause of death has been publicly disclosed.
Gregory’s uncle, Capt. Keith Colburn, has appeared on Deadliest Catch since season 3, which aired in 2007. Gregory served as a crewman on the Wizard, owned and operated by Keith, from 2018 to 2022.
