Route 66 is turning 100, and there are three legendary sets of wheels waiting to take on a trip down America's most iconic highway.
To celebrate the roadway's centennial, Booking.com is offering customers the chance to experience the wide open road behind the wheel of a movie-inspired classic car. The bookable trip includes a three-night stay for two across Albuquerque and Santa Fe, N.M. — a part of the original Route 66.
Travelers can choose from three cars, each with its own curated itinerary that boasts the best of what the Southwest has to offer.
The 1966 Ford Thunderbird will have a “freedom-forward escape centered on female friendship,” according to a press release shared with PEOPLE. The experience starts with a stay at Sunset Motel Moriarty, a vintage neon-lit Route 66 classic. After cruising through Albuquerque's bohemian Nob Hill district with the top down, guests will refuel at Sugar Nymphs Bistro before heading to 66 Diner for milkshakes. In Santa Fe, dine at The Shed, a historic 1953 landmark, before returning via the artist villages of Madrid on the Turquoise Trail for a final night at The Monterey Motel.

The experience takes inspiration from Thelma & Louise, the 1991 classic starring Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis. The film sees two female friends who embark on a weekend road trip that spirals into a nationwide escape from the law.
Another trip, inside a 1960 VW Bus, begins at Casas de Suenos Old Town Historic Inn before setting out on the ABQ Trolley Co. City Tour or a Ghost Tour of Old Town. Along the Turquoise Trail, travelers will stop at the whimsical Tinkertown Museum before checking into Pueblo Bonito Inn in Santa Fe and dinner at Café Pasqual's.

Just like the lovable and chaotic Hoover family in Little Miss Sunshine, travelers will squeeze into the Volkswagen microbus before trekking across the highway.
Last but not least, a 1981 DeLorean will provide a retro-futurist cruise down Route 66. The trip begins with a stay at ARRIVE Albuquerque and breakfast at Duran Central Pharmacy's vintage counter. Then hop out of the car for a professional photoshoot in front of neon signs along Central Avenue. In Santa Fe, dine at The Shed before closing out at El Vado Motel.

Of course, you can't hop in a DeLorean without looking for its flux capacitor. Luckily, this car won't require drivers to hit 88 mph to feel pure cinematic nostalgia. This Back to the Future-inspired drive lets you trade the stress of saving the space-time continuum for a leisurely stroll through New Mexico.
