Radziwill and Bessette-Kennedy were cousins by marriage and close friends

When Real Housewives of New York City season 16 was filming, Love Story had become a cultural phenomenon. For the housewives, having Carole Radziwill — who was close to John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette — back was the key to getting answers to their burning questions about the late couple.
In the latest episode of RHONY, which aired on Tuesday, Sept. 15, housewives Daisy Toye and Jessel Taank, who are “obsessed” with Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr & Carolyn Bessette, grilled Radziwill about the high-profile couple depicted in the FX series.
“I want to know all about Carolyn Bessette,” Toye said. When Taank asked if Bessette was a bitch, the RHONY newcomer said, “No. That’s not my question. Was she fun? Like, would she vibe with that?”

Radziwill, who considered Bessette a close friend, replied, “Yeah, she was very fun. She’s a girl’s girl, like before there was a thing called a girl’s girl. I don’t know what she’s like on the show, ‘cause I don’t want to watch the show.”
Taken aback by this revelation, Taank asked, “You haven’t watched it?”
“No, I’m not watching the show,” Radziwill said. “I watched about four minutes of it the other night with my best friend ‘cause she’s like, ‘Well, let’s just watch it together,’ and it’s too much.”

Taank went on to ask Radziwill what her thoughts are on “Carolyn Bessette Summer,” referring to the style trend inspired by Bessette that emerged after Love Story‘s premiere. Radziwill bluntly replied, “I don’t love that.”
The fashion publicist asked Radziwill if she thinks the “Kennedy curse” is real. “Do you not think the family is, like, cursed? Right? The dad gets assassinated, then the mother has cancer, and then they both die…” Before she finished, Erika Hammond interrupted, saying, “Too much,” to which Radziwill agreed.
In her confessional, Erin Lichy said, “Read the frickin’ room, Jessel. Dude, do not see that this is her best friend, and she’s still grieving?”
“It doesn’t register to her that the tragic death of my cousins and best friend might be very upsetting to me? I want to strangle her,” Radziwill said in her confessional.

To the cameras, Hailey Glassman confessed, “I can tell Carole’s getting agitated and uncomfortable, but I’m staying out of it. Also, I didn’t watch it. I have no interest in watching it. I don’t really even know where it’s streaming.”
Radziwill and Bessette were close friends and cousins by marriage, as the reality star’s late husband, Anthony Radziwill, was JFK Jr.’s cousin. The former journalist, who was not portrayed in Love Story, previously opened up about her thoughts on the series in an essay posted to Substack.
“Sitting here now, we know how it ended,” she wrote. “And yet the story keeps being told. Reinvented. Embroidered. Filled with details no one could possibly know, by people who weren’t there and don’t care about the truth.”
Radziwill added that while she no longer worries “about misrepresentations, false narratives or bent truths,” she would not be watching the series.
