“We’ve made this incredible commitment to each other and I think that’s really special,” the ‘Paris Is Always a Good Idea’ star tells PEOPLE

Scott Michael Foster is still on cloud nine after his glamorous castle wedding to actress Carson Fagerbakke last month.
PEOPLE exclusively announced that the 41-year-old actor-producer, known for his roles in Chasing Life, You, Greek and Once Upon a Time, married Carson, 32, at the medieval Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire, England, on Saturday, Aug. 1. Three and a half weeks later, PEOPLE caught up with Foster again at the Hallmark+ limited series Paris Is Always a Good Idea finale screening event, where he opened up about his nuptials and newlywed life.
Foster, who met his wife on the set of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend eight years ago, says “nothing’s really changed” in their relationship since getting married, apart from their post-wedding bliss.

“We’ve been together for eight years. And so I think the idea that anything was going to really change is not there,” he told PEOPLE at The Luckman Club at Soho House in West Hollywood, California, on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
He added, “If anything, we’re just happier because we’ve got this beautiful jewelry on and we’ve made this incredible commitment to each other and I think that’s really special. But we were already committed to each other. We just had a nice party to celebrate.”

The newlyweds are still riding the high of their wedding.
“We are still growing from the aftershock of the wedding,” Foster says. “The wedding was so cool and it was better than I think we anticipated.”
“You always think like, ‘Oh man, it’s not going to live up to my expectation.’ And then it does. And that was really, really special,” he continued, adding, “It was a nice party.”

Foster and Carson’s wedding was attended by 90 guests, including Carson’s father, Bill Fagerbakke, who famously voices the character Patrick Star in SpongeBob SquarePants. The ceremony was officiated by her sister, Hannah Royce.
At the time, the couple told PEOPLE that they envisioned “an unforgettable celebration with friends and family in a stunning and historic location” and leaned into a vibe of “classy, moody and cinematic.”

“We were so excited to celebrate with our friends and family and see them all dressed up and together under one roof,” Foster said, with Carson adding, “It was the best celebration ever.”
