A 91-year-old grandfather traveled nine hours by bus to watch his granddaughter graduate.
Andrea Morgan of graduated from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas, on May 9, earning her degree in nursing, according to local outlet NBC 5.
And one guest in particular made the milestone even more meaningful: her grandfather, who made the lengthy journey from Chihuahua, Mexico, to celebrate alongside her.
Andrea told the outlet that her grandfather has never missed a major milestone in her life and has always shown her unconditional love and support.
“Seeing him watch me walk across the stage not once, but twice was incredibly emotional and special for me,” Andrea, who is from Fort Worth, told the outlet. “It reminded me how much family support matters and how proud he is of me.”
In addition to participating in the university’s graduation ceremony, Andrea also took part in a nursing pinning ceremony, which symbolizes the transition from nursing student to healthcare professional.
Andrea told the outlet that nursing is her second degree. She said she hopes to attain a nursing job in women’s services, ideally in labor and delivery, postpartum or mother-baby care.

Her ultimate goal is to become a women’s health nurse practitioner.
Andrea said that she and her sister both graduated from Young Women's Leadership Academy in Fort Worth before attending college.
"We were taught the importance of health, wellness, confidence, and advocating for ourselves from a young age, and those lessons stayed with me throughout my life,” Andrea said in an email to NBC 5.
“Being surrounded by strong female mentors and classmates really inspired me to pursue a career where I could continue supporting women in meaningful ways,” she added.
