Six of Ed Sheeran’s crew members were hit with stage equipment and rushed to the hospital.
Per Click on Detroit, while crews were breaking down the stage at Ford Field in Detroit following the pop star’s performance on Saturday, Aug. 29, some of the heavier equipment struck the workers.
One of the crew members who was injured told the outlet that he stayed in the hospital overnight before being released on Sunday, Aug. 30.
Dispatch audio from the fire department revealed assistance was sent to the stadium around 11 p.m. on Saturday for a “forklift injury accident.”
According to the outlet, the workers were hit by the equipment near a ramp in a vehicle tunnel as they were headed on break.
One individual who was struck in the chest told Click on Detroit that the accident occurred in “a split second.”
While none of the crew members had life-threatening injuries, all six of them were taken to local hospitals.

Two of the employees had serious injuries, while four were in stable condition at the time of transport.
In a statement shared with Click on Detroit, Ford Field said one of the injured crew members was on their team.
“Ford Field has begun a full review and is cooperating with the appropriate authorities and with the event’s production partners,” the stadium said. “Out of respect for the people involved and the integrity of that review, we will not speculate on the cause. We are grateful to the Detroit Fire Department and EMS for their rapid response.”
PEOPLE has reached out to Sheeran and Ford Field for comment.
The following night, Sheeran was a surprise guest at the Pokémon World Championships at San Francisco’s Chase Center, where he performed his 2022 Pokémon Scarlet & Violet track “Celestial,” as well as an acoustic rendition of the original theme song, per footage captured by NBC Bay Area.
Sheeran’s tour will continue on Friday, Sept. 4 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
