Kennedy Biddulph’s little sister had heard enough stories about her teenage years to know that sneaking out required a plan. So when the 21-year-old finally made good on her promise to give Baylee an adventure of her own, the younger sister was ready with a dummy tucked into bed and a getaway outfit consisting of pajamas.
“I moved out several years ago to attend fashion school in LA, and that makes it so I don’t get to see her nearly as much as I wish,” Kennedy tells PEOPLE. “Nonetheless, I knew that once I was in town, I needed to take her.”
The idea had been brewing ever since Kennedy opened up about her high school antics during a lighthearted conversation with her dad at an airport a few years after graduating. Her little sister later overheard their parents discussing the stories and began cornering Kennedy when Mom and Dad weren’t around, eager to know what she did, where she went and who joined her.

Eventually, Kennedy realized Baylee didn’t just want to hear the stories; she could have an adventure of her own. Months later, while Kennedy was back in town for two days between classes to attend a best friend’s wedding, the opportunity finally arrived.
That night, Kennedy’s parents asked her to pick up Baylee from a late-night at a friend’s house so they could head to bed early. Kennedy brought her home, had her change into pajamas and, just as Baylee was preparing for bed, announced, “Tonight is the night.”
Kennedy went to grab the keys to a car she had intentionally parked outside, but Baylee was already one step ahead. By the time her sister returned, she had constructed a dummy underneath her sheets using a hair mannequin she had recently bought while taking summer classes to improve her hairstyling skills.
But there was a catch when it came to the sneaky getaway: the duo’s parents had been in on the scheme.
Baylee wasn’t particularly skilled at keeping the plan from her parents. Kennedy says her mom later revealed that Baylee would quietly tell her, “Kennedy is going to sneak me out, but you can’t know.”
“I thought that was really cute because even though she was supposed to be hiding it from my parents, they’re her favorite people, so she wanted to tell them her secrets,” Kennedy says.
“She fashioned the whole thing on her own and left a note underneath in case my parents checked on her and found it so they would know she was safe and out with me,” Kennedy says. “She was giddy the entire night.”
In the TikTok, the sisters committed fully to their pretend covert operation, tiptoeing out of the house in their pajamas before making a run for the car. The text overlay explained the premise simply: “my little sister found out i used to sneak out in high school. so i promised to sneak her out and this is that.”
Their escape led them to Cold Stone and an arcade, but there was one important detail Baylee didn’t know: Mom had already been tipped off. Kennedy had told her months earlier that she planned to “sneak” Baylee out eventually, although she kept the timing secret.

The make-believe secrecy transported Kennedy back to growing up in a small Arizona town, where she and her friends had to get creative to entertain themselves. She played the music she and her friends listened to during their own late-night adventures and took Baylee to places her younger sister wouldn’t normally go.
“It was so thrilling to see her so excited and to bond with her in a more teenage kind of way as she’s transitioning into middle school soon,” Kennedy says. She admits she felt like a “super senior” sharing her “back in my day” stories, but loved seeing the experience through Baylee’s eyes.
For Kennedy, the night also carried extra weight because of the sisters’ 10-year age gap and the unusual symmetry in their story. Baylee is adopted, and Kennedy was the same age Baylee is now when she first became her big sister.

Kennedy grew up with two older sisters who were close in age, leaving her as the baby of the family until Baylee arrived. Now that Kennedy has moved away for fashion school and her older sisters are married, she says Baylee has essentially become an only child at home, making their time together especially important.

Their bond, Kennedy says, exists somewhere between sisterly and maternal, filled with the kind of chaos where they can yell at each other one minute and dissolve into laughter the next. While Baylee has always looked up to her, Kennedy hopes their night out showed her little sister something beyond how to build a convincing decoy in bed.
“I hope that us sneaking out left the impression that I am not perfect and that she doesn’t have to be either,” Kennedy says. “I hope that she thinks about it and truly realizes how much I deeply love her and how incredibly full of light and love she is to be so special that I got to sneak out with her.”
