A Michigan woman recently won big on her birthday!
Lillian Boegner of Sanilac County won a quarter of a million dollars playing the Twice as Spice online instant game, per a press release from the Michigan Lottery shared on Jan. 7.
“I was on MichiganLottery.com and saw the Twice as Spice game, so I deposited $50 and gave it a try,” Boegner recalled while speaking to Michigan Lottery.
“When $250,000 came up on the screen, I couldn’t believe it,” she continued, adding, “It was my 60th birthday, which made winning even more exciting!”

Boegner has since claimed her prize at the Michigan Lottery headquarters. She said she plans to purchase a car with her winnings and save the rest, per the release.

Boegner isn’t the only Michigan resident to have won big in recent weeks.
A 30-year-old Oakland County man, who wished to remain anonymous, won $1 million playing the Nov. 19, 2025, Super Raffle, per the Michigan Lottery.
“My brother told me about the Super Raffle game, so I asked him to buy me a ticket when he went and got one for himself — and I ended up getting lucky,” he recalled while speaking to the Lottery about the experience.
The man went on to say that he initially could hardly believe he had won.
“When I saw my raffle ticket was a $1 million winner, I couldn’t believe it. I had to check it several times before it started to sink in that I really won,” he said.

All profits from the sale of Michigan Lottery tickets go to the state’s School Aid Fund, and the Michigan Lottery contributed more than $1 billion to the fund in fiscal year 2025, per the Michigan Lottery’s website.
