High Potential has more cases to solve.
The Kaitlin Olson-led comedy series was renewed for a third season weeks before its season 2 finale aired, The Wrap reported. Though most of the cast — which includes Daniel Sunjata, Judy Reyes and Steve Howey — is expected to return, the ABC show will continue with a change in leadership.
Showrunner Todd Harthan reportedly exited High Potential after season 2 to focus on the Disney+ live-action series Eragon. He previously teased the final episode of season 2 as "just as satisfying, if not even more exhilarating push-off into a potential Season 3" in an interview with Deadline.
"What we’re plotting and planning, it has a different flavor than what we did last year, but I think it’s gonna be even more personal, even more propulsive, even more surprising than what we did in Season 1, because we’ve learned some things and the characters have gotten richer,” he told the outlet in January 2026.
So, will there be a third season of High Potential? Here's everything to know about the future of the ABC series and which cast members are expected to reprise their roles.

Yes, High Potential was renewed for a third season. ABC and the show shared a joint Instagram post announcing the news in March 2026, weeks before the comedy's season 2 finale.
"The case isn’t closed 🔍," the caption read. "#HighPotential has been renewed for Season 3!"
Though the official logline hasn't been announced, fans can hopefully anticipate more developments between Morgan (Olson) and Wagner (Howey).
Chemistry between the two began to build when he was introduced as the station's new captain in season 2. However, they are taking it slow, with Harthan telling CinemaBlend that Olson was behind their decision to hold off on their workplace romance.
"We really wanted to see where things went naturally between Morgan and Wagner and frankly, we also wanted a chance to see what felt right to Kaitlin, who’s always a huge part of those creative discussions, especially anytime we bring a guy into Morgan’s world," he told the outlet in April 2026.
He added, "Our hope was that seeing things develop, with no one sure what to make of this new Captain — that it would take our audience on a more surprising, emotional journey."

The cast for the third season of High Potential hasn't been confirmed, but Olson, Reyes, Sunjata, Javicia Leslie and Deniz Akdeniz appeared in the Instagram video announcing the renewal.
Though the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star hasn't spoken about season 3, she did share a short and sweet message of gratitude for fans after wrapping season 2.
"We did it," Olson captioned a February 2026 Instagram carousel, which included a pic of a Barbie doll dressed as her character. "Season 2 is wrapped. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ♥️"
Though fans can expect to see their favorite characters back on the screen for season 3, High Potential will undergo some changes behind the scenes.
Despite previously telling Deadline that he couldn't wait to "come back," The Wrap reported that Harthan had exited his role as showrunner.
His replacement has yet to be announced.
