The night shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center took over for The Pitt stars Isa Briones, Shabana Azeez, and Noah Wyle as they hit the red carpet for the 2026 Emmys.
The actors swapped the dark under-eye circles their overworked characters often wear for a radiant glow. Eager to achieve the look ourselves, we asked their makeup artists how to recreate it, and they agreed, it all starts with the skincare prep.
“If the skin looks healthy and hydrated before you start, you don’t need to use nearly as much complexion product,” Wyle’s MUA, Rachel Burney, tells PEOPLE. They relied on Merit’s minimalist-forward formulas, which have been worn by other celebrities including Dakota Johnson and Laura Dern. For Burney, “less is more,” which is why she focused on “subtle complexion correction and not disrupting [Wyle’s] skin’s natural texture,” she explains. The makeup artist targeted specific areas using Merit’s creamy concealer stick, then went in with the brand’s moisturizer to create a “fresh, hydrated base.”

Burney, and Briones’ makeup artist, Allan Avendaño, both applied Merit’s Great Skin Serum to get what the latter describes as a “glass skin effect.” The oil-free formula can be pressed into skin for a boost of hydration and was used on Briones to keep her makeup looking fresh from the red carpet to the Emmys afterparty.

Aimée Twist crafted Azeez’s makeup to feel “ethereal and glossy.” To get a “luminous” look, she used Merit’s tinted mineral SPF. The formula added slight color, which was integral for creating an “even canvas” for the star’s makeup.
