Pluribus quickly became a sensation on Apple TV+ thanks to Vince Gilligan. The Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator introduced us to a post-apocalyptic world where humanity has been overcome by an extraterrestrial hive mind virus known as the “Joining,” except for a dozen people on earth who are immune to it, including Albuquerque-based author Carol Sturka. But with any successful show comes online chatter, including a false cancelation rumor.
So, how did the rumor start? After all, Pluribus has received widespread critical acclaim and is up for an award for Best Drama Series at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards.

Was Pluribus Canceled?
No, Pluribus was never canceled. The rumor started online when an X user falsely claimed that the show had been axed after one season on the air.
Will There Be a Season 2 of Pluribus?
Yes! Season 2 was ordered by Apple TV+. A release date has not been determined, as filming has yet to commence on the second season.
Vince is optimistic that Pluribus could continue for multiple seasons. During a red carpet interview with Variety, the producer said he’d “love to see Pluribus go as long as Rhea Seehorn wants it to go.”
“I’m really doing it, as much as anybody, I’m doing it for her,” Vince gushed about the lead actress, before adding, “At this point, maybe four seasons, I’m guessing, but who the hell knows?”
However, at the moment, Apple has not confirmed anything else aside from a second season. But with positive reviews and high ratings, the show is expected to continue.
