Some people wait a lifetime for a moment to collaborate with Kelly Clarkson — and country singer Warren Zeiders is ready for that moment.
“A big thing for me is [to] never miss out on an opportunity,” Zeiders, 25, told PEOPLE. “If she would be interested, it could be something cool down the line. I’d consider doing a duet with her — with such a powerhouse vocal that she has. I think her and I could do something special together.”
The former lacrosse athlete turned country music star’s comments about collaborating with Clarkson, 42, come after he appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show in October, at which time a clip of their interview went viral.
During their segment, unbeknownst to Clarkson, Zeiders’ team brought a shirtless photo to display on the big screen that left her flustered.
“Oh s—,” Clarkson said, reacting to the photo of him playing lacrosse, to which Zeiders responded, “I might have to take the jacket off.”
Clarkson added, “I need to be prepared for that. Well, that’s nice.”
Zeiders revealed afterward that he was nervous for the interview.
“I was definitely nervous going out there because TV is so different,” he told PEOPLE. “TV is very, hurry up and wait, and then it’s go, go, go.”
“I love being under pressure,” he continued. “I got out there and had a chance to meet her, and she did a great job leading me through the interview, and it was awesome.”
While the moment was Zeiders’ first interview with Clarkson, it was not his first appearance on the show. In 2022, Zeiders provided a taped performance of his song “Ride the Lightning.”
Following the interview, some social media users commented on the dynamics between the two singers, with one person on Instagram writing, “Was there chemistry or was that just me?”
Zeiders said the responses have not gone unnoticed.
“I am a person that I believe has done a great job at paying attention to what their fans are saying,” said the 2024 CMT Music Awards winner for breakthrough male video of the year. “That was a pretty big thing to see the responses on the chemistry and how the interview flowed.”
Zeiders just wrapped up performing on Jelly Roll’s 39-show The Beautifully Broken Tour. He has a few months off before heading out on his own headlining tour. Zeiders will head to Europe in January to kick off his Relapse Tour and return to the U.S. in March to finish it out.
Tickets for Zeiders’ Relapse Tour are on sale now.
