Victoria Monét’s daughter Hazel may have just put herself in the running to become the next Elphaba.
On Monday, Jan. 20, John Gaines, Monét’s ex-partner and father of her daughter, shared a TikTok video of Hazel, 3, singing the high notes from Wicked ‘s “Defying Gravity.” Gaines told her to “hit it baby” before she belted out the famed run from the end of the song.
“If you ever hear this in public just know we are close by,” Gaines wrote over the video. In the caption, he complimented her efforts, saying, “She kinda hit that tho 👀 lol.”

There’s no doubt that Hazel is a fan of the Broadway play turned movie franchise. In Nov. 2024, she joined Monét at the Los Angeles premiere of Wicked.
“@wickedmovie Premiere with my little bestie!!! 😌 @itshazelmonet,” she began in the caption of her Instagram post. The post showed the two of them in matching pinks with a dark green background behind them. She concluded her post with two videos of her and Hazel enjoying their night at the premiere.
“What a CLASSIC!!! What a CAST!!! It is absolutely incredible we are obsessed!” Monét continued. “Hazel and I can’t wait to see and hear it again asap! This is a MUST watch! Monét first announced she was expecting a baby with Gaines in December 2020.
“I’m so happy to share that I’ve been promoted to the title just above Queen… Mom,” Monét wrote in the caption of her since-deleted Instagram announcement.
“Two hearts beat inside of me now…That’s more love. Two brains and two souls…that’s so much power. Really been feelin like the ultra super Victoria cause my body is doing such miraculous work. This is absolutely the best thing that has ever happened to me and I can’t wait to meet my tiny soul mate earth side!!!” she added.
Hazel was born on Feb. 21, 2021, which Monét revealed in an Instagram post of her holding her daughter’s little feet.
