Tyler Childers announced that he and his wife Senora May are expecting their second baby together, due this summer, and the country musician is speaking out on an important issue that's impacting rural communities in his home state of Kentucky.
"Saddened to hear about the impending closure of the birthing center at Ephraim McDowell," Childers wrote in an Instagram Stories post on Wednesday, Feb. 11. "In Sept of 2022, Senora gave birth to our baby boy here. We were intending on going here for the birth of our second baby, who we are expecting later this summer."
The "Bitin' List" singer continued, "This birthing center is a vital part of maternal care in the Stanford area. It would greatly affect the Amish community surrounding the birthing center as well. The birthing center is a top notch medical facility that Kentucky should be proud of."
Childers, 34, shared his message over a screenshot of local Kentucky outlet WKYT's Tuesday, Feb. 10, report on expectant mothers protesting the Ephraim McDowell Health system's planned closure of the birthing center at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, Ky.

“They don’t see birth as a medical event. They see it as something that can drastically change your life," Cathy Rowell, whose son was born last year at the center, told WKYT of the quality of care she received at the center.
Dr. Jay Miller, who lives five minutes from the hospital and helped found the birthing center four decades ago, told WKYT that the closure could prove to be life threatening to local expectant mothers in distress.
"20 minutes to Danville for our patients and 20 minutes to us after they call us is too long for emergencies," Miller said.

"Here, mothers and babies will have immediate access to neonatologists and a Level II Special Care Nursery should the need arise, in addition to all the amenities of our private birthing suites featured here."
Ephraim McDowell Health said it plans to work with local emergency medical services "to ensure coverage from the Stanford area to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, should our community need ambulance service or transfer during their OB care."
