A mom was shocked at how quickly her life changed 15 months after giving birth to twins.
Seven months after giving birth to her twin boys, Mattie Goetz, a 27-year-old Texas mom, received exciting news that filled her with a "whirlwind of emotions." The then-mom of four found out that she was expecting her fifth baby with her husband, Blake Goetz, 32.
"I felt a whirlwind of emotions — shocked, happy [and] overwhelmed. Everything flooded at once when we found out we were pregnant so quickly after the twins. I was seven months postpartum, and while I had done a close age gap with my older two, who are 11.5 months apart, I didn’t know what to expect with twin toddlers and a newborn."

Since she was breastfeeding her twins, Mattie explains it "wasn't uncommon" for her menstrual cycle to be late. However, a positive result for a pregnancy test came as a surprise to her.
"I definitely didn’t have any symptoms that made me think 'oh let’s take a test' except my period being late, which wasn’t uncommon for me at the time because breastfeeding the twins really threw off my cycle," she shares. "Each month I took a 'just in case' test, and this one ended up coming back positive."
After finding out the happy news, she immediately told her husband that they'd be welcoming another baby into their brood. The new addition would transition them into being a family with five under 5.
"I told my husband Blake right before he went in for his shift," Mattie says. "When he woke up, I simply just showed him the test, and he also had all the emotions flood him as well."
In a now-viral TikTok, the mom of five poked fun at her unexpected turn of events. The beginning of the clip, which was viewed by more than 3.9 million people, showed Mattie being wheeled out of the hospital, smiling as she held her twins in her arms.
"Wonder what I'll look like 15 months postpartum," she wrote in text over the beginning of the video, which was set to Kanye West, Paul McCartney, and Rihanna's "FourFiveSeconds."
The clip then cuts to her hospital room 15 months later, after she gives birth to her fifth baby. "Me 15 months later," she wrote.

Mattie says her family of seven, which includes newborn Hattie, twins Beau and Beckett, 16 months, Georgia, 3, and Waylon, 4, is adjusting well to the new addition.
"We are adjusting great," she shares. "The older two love their siblings, [and] the twins could probably care less right now about the baby."
"I think going from two kids to four kids was more of a challenge for my husband and I than the four kids to five kids because it gets to a point where you say 'what’s one more,' " Mattie explains. "You are already in such a routine with them all that adding another one in the mix doesn’t feel like a big shift at all."

Looking toward the future, Mattie says she's excited to see how her kids' bonds continue to grow.
"I can’t wait to see their bond and closeness continue to grow," she says. "I grew up with 5 siblings, and it felt so natural to me. I never thought I had a big family. I loved being around all my siblings and having all the get-togethers we did growing up.
"I can’t wait to see my kids grow up the same way," she adds. "They truly love each other like no other."
