Troian Bellisario and Patrick J. Adams brought their second child into this world in an unconventional way — and they have the footage to remember it.
On the latest episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s On Me podcast, the On Call actress, 39, recalled the interesting story of her childbirth. She told the Modern Family alum, 49, that she and her husband actually have the security footage from the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center parking lot, where she gave birth to her daughter Elliot Rowena, 3.
“It’s just a wonderful shot of our car, [and] Patrick diving into the car, appearing, turning around to the poor valet gentleman, who couldn’t have done anything right. And we found out it was his first day on the job,” she began. “Then he turns around and then he reappears with a baby and he was just covered in afterbirth, [and] the car was covered in afterbirth.
“Then he came up to me, and the hospital actually gave him honorary scrubs because they were just laughing at his jeans and his sweater,” she continued. “We still have pictures. It looks like a full crime scene.”

This is not the first time the couple has talked about how their daughter entered the world. While chatting with Katie Lowes for an episode of her podcast, Katie’s Crib, the actress and the Suits actor revealed that Bellisario’s contractions were coming close together early that morning, but they thought nothing of it given their experience with their firstborn daughter, Aurora, 6, whose labor lasted over 26 hours.
However, as time went by and as Bellisario felt more uncomfortable, the pair then decided it was time for them to head to the hospital. “I’m starting to have to push my seatbelt away from me … I’m in a lot of pain, but I’m also like, ‘I can’t be in this position anymore,’ ” Bellisario said of her experience driving to the hospital.
As the Adams pulled into the hospital parking lot, they realized they were in a situation that couldn’t be ignored. “As soon as I hit the button and grab the ticket, she’s screaming,” Adams detailed. “I whip around, and by the time I turn my head around, Troian is already [fully on her] hands and knees … and we’ve gone nuclear.”

The couple tends to keep their private life out of the spotlight, but occasionally, they do share glimpses into their family life. In July 2022, Bellisario opened up to The Nerds of Color about being a working mom of two and approaching projects differently now because of “how much energy and time it takes to portray a character.”
“I’m not able to just do a bunch of things in the way that I once was when I was 20, 21, or something like that, I had more time,” she said. “And so I think for me when I read a role, it’s got to grab me in a way that I say, ‘Oh, this is worth not putting my daughters to bed that night.’ This is worth me saying, ‘Mama’s gotta go to work, because this is really important for me,’ so that they learn, like, ‘Okay, you go to work too, and sometimes it means you don’t get to always be together but you’re doing something you love.’”
She added, “I only want to do the work, I’m in a very fortunate place that I can right now do that, that will allow me to be with them and also allow me to show up to work in an excited way.”
