Macy’s is leaning into American fashion for its fall campaign, tapping iconic designers for limited-edition capsule collections launching Sept. 8.
Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Jonathan Cohen, LAPOINTE and Theophilio will release specially designed collections with Macy’s that evoke creativity, heritage and the ever-evolving spirit of American fashion, per a press release.
“This fall, we’re celebrating the incredible mix of brands and fashion customers can discover at Macy’s and showing how they can come together to create stylish, versatile looks for every part of their lives,” Nata Dvir, Macy’s chief merchandising officer, tells PEOPLE. “Celebrate American Designers brings together some of the most iconic names in American fashion with an exciting new generation of designers, each bringing their own point of view to a limited-edition collection created exclusively for Macy’s. It’s a celebration of American style today and a chance for our customers to discover something truly special that they won’t find anywhere else.”

Each designer took inspiration from American heritage to design their collection, offering a variety of pieces in their signature style but through a Macy’s lens.
“It’s an honor to celebrate American fashion with my fellow designers for Macy’s,” Michael Kors tells PEOPLE. “I’ve been working with the legendary retailer for over 20 years, and for this capsule I wanted to take all of the design touchstones that I’ve always loved and find new ways to interpret them.”
Tommy Hilfiger tells PEOPLE, “What I love about American fashion is that it never stands still — every generation brings its own perspective and makes it their own. Macy’s has long been part of that story, so it’s exciting to come together with an incredible group of designers to celebrate our heritage while looking ahead to what’s next. Customers can expect a fresh take on some of our most iconic pieces, remixed with modern silhouettes, refined fabrics and archival details.”

“Shoppers can expect a collection that feels joyful, confident and full of life,” Edvin Thompson of Theophilio tells PEOPLE of what he’s bringing to the table. “I wanted to bring the energy of THEOPHILIO—color, movement and a sense of freedom into pieces that people can really make their own. My Jamaican heritage and my experience living and creating in New York are always part of my design language, and this collection brings those worlds together in a way that feels expressive, wearable, and accessible.”

Sally LaPointe of LAPOINTE tells PEOPLE, “My brand makes statement dressing easy, we are known for our head-to-toe occasion wear looks. For this capsule, I wanted to showcase what we do best with a great color palette, textured fabrications, and print.”
She adds, “American fashion is the dream; I feel so fortunate that I was able to pursue my vision and build it for 16 years right here in NYC.”
“I wanted this collection to feel very personal to my world, while also being something that could become a real part of someone’s wardrobe,” Jonathan Cohen tells PEOPLE. “There’s a sense of ease to it, but also a lot of thought in the details, color, print and fabrication. I’ve always loved the idea of clothes having a life beyond a single moment, and I hope these are pieces people will wear in their own way and create their own memories in.”
The designers all tell PEOPLE how excited they are to bring new life to the heritage of American fashion and put their signature spins on it. As Cohen describes, what makes American fashion so special is that it’s always evolving and “we are still defining it.”
The new capsule collections will be available at select Macy’s locations and online at macys.com starting Sept. 8.
