Tom Cruise is revealing what he spoke to Taylor Swift about when the pair were spotted chatting at the Kansas City Chiefs‘ first game of the 2026 NFL season earlier this week.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, Sept. 17, Cruise, 64, was asked about Swift, 36, after they were seen in a suite together at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday, Sept. 14.
Swift had been cheering on her husband, Travis Kelce, 36, as his team faced the rival Denver Broncos.
Fallon asked, “When the biggest movie star in the world is sitting next to the biggest artist in the world, what do you talk about?” as Cruise responded, “She was schooling me on football.”
“For real?” Fallon questioned, as Cruise insisted, “For real.”
The actor, who has been promoting his new film Digger, went on, “She was bringing the football. First of all, she’s a genius. I’ve been following her since she was a kid. Everybody there, all their friends, they’re a beautiful couple and magical in their own right. Everybody there in that booth.”
Cruise continued, “I hadn’t been to a football game since pre-Covid, where I was working and everything. So to get to hang out there and have that moment, it was a lot of fun … she knows her stuff.”

Cruise and Fallon spoke about the fact that Swift had admitted to not knowing anything about football when she first met Kelce.
“She said, ‘You know, he’s so patient,’” Cruise shared, laughing, “I said, ‘I’m sure he was.’ I think everybody would be very patient [with her].”
“[Now] she knows … she’s just bringing it,” he insisted, telling Fallon that the pair had also discussed music and movies.
Cruise said of the “Opalite” singer, “She’s funny. She’s got such a great sense of humor. A brilliant writer also, by the way. Brilliant musician and director. Very skilled.”

Swift and Cruise were seen during the end of the first quarter of the game. Swift wore a checkered red and white top for the outing, and was seen sipping a drink as she and the actor chatted.
The Top Gun star was one of many A-list guests at Swift and Kelce’s wedding on July 3 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
Monday’s season opener marked quarterback Patrick Mahomes‘ return to the field after he suffered season-ending ACL and LCL tears in December 2025. The Chiefs beat the Broncos 31-10.
The AFC West matchup also marked Swift’s return to the stands, after she became a regular at Kelce’s games from early on in their relationship.
Swift attended her first Chiefs game back in September 2023, when she watched Kansas City take on the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium.
She’s since gone on to attend multiple games, often bringing some of her famous friends and members of her own family along, as well.
In October 2024, the superstar attended a Chiefs game outside New York City with friends, while her dad, Scott Swift, joined her for a game outside Boston. Both of her parents and her brother, Austin Swift, also attended the Chiefs’ Christmas Day game in 2024.
