Director Christina Voros and show creator Taylor Sheridan have teamed up again.
During the premiere of The Madison, Voros spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about the series and collaborating with Sheridan for his latest project at the Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City on Monday, March 9.
“People ask me a lot, ‘How many conversations did you have about the show?’ And honestly, not that many because so much of his pulse is running through the pages that it's very easy to understand what he intends with the scenes when you bring them to screen,” she said of working with Sheridan.

Voros previously directed episodes of other Sheridan shows, including Yellowstone, 1883 and Lawmen: Bass Reeves.

“It's a very different show. It's a very similar process,” Voros noted. “Taylor puts so much of the DNA of what he sees the story and the themes, and the heart of the show being. He puts so much of that DNA in the script itself.”
She continued, “As an audience, you get to see what we do with it on the screen, but so much of that directive is in his writing, in the screen direction and things the audiences never get to see. So the intent is very clear from the beginning.”
The Madison creator also expressed his gratitude for Voros and sang her praises during a rare speech at the show’s premiere.
"No one came here to listen to me. They want to see the movie stars. So I'm going to bring you some movie stars out. But before I do that, with this project, I had to turn it over to one person and trust that one person to execute my vision and take this on," Sheridan said. "And I'm a big believer that when you find a talent that understands your voice, you need to surrender to that talent."
"And so Christina Voros… she's here tonight," the show creator added. "I'd love to call her out on stage and let you guys show her your appreciation. I think you'll see that she exceeded even my wildest expectations."

The Madison follows a New York City family, the Clyburns, as they navigate their new life in the Madison River valley of central Montana. Upon arriving on set in the Treasure State, Voros said she was moved to tears.
“I'm an East Coast gal who spent 15 years in New York and met my husband on a movie, and he's a cowboy. And now I make Westerns in Montana and Texas,” she explained. “So there was a lot that I could relate to.”
“There was a lot I found in myself when I moved out west that I would not have had the experience to do had I not come into Taylor's world,” she added. “So it was a profoundly emotional revelation for me to be handed these scripts.”
The Western family drama is “a profound love story channeled through a deeply personal family drama about resilience and transformation,” per a synopsis. The Madison sees the Clyburn family grappling with grief in a new place after a devastating tragedy.
The Paramount+ series stars Kurt Russell, Michelle Pfeiffer, Matthew Fox, Patrick J. Adams and Elle Chapman. For Voros, working with legendary actors like Russell and Pfeiffer was “a dream.”
“Both of them have such big hearts, give so much of themselves on the screen, are so involved as a matriarch and patriarch, not only as characters in the show, but in the family of actors and crew members that we've brought together to make it,” she shared. “They are who they are and where they are in their careers because of the magnificent commitment on top of the talent that they show every single day when they show up to set. It's really awe-inspiring.”
The Madison's first three episodes are now available to stream on Paramount+. The following three will drop on Saturday, March 21.
