The Best, Worst and Most Oops Moments of the 2026 Golden Globes

The Golden Globes, famously known as the wildest show during the awards circuit, didn’t disappoint this year. On Jan. 11, nominees, presenters and VIP guests gathered at the Beverly Hilton for a show that was equal parts moving, entertaining and sometimes cringeworthy. Julia Roberts commanded attention from the red carpet to the stage, couples new and old stepped out for a glamorous date night and a few unexpected crossovers happened inside the venue.

Catch up on what you missed from the Jan. 11 ceremony, including some questionable music choices, uncensored f-bombs and a moment for the Heated Rivalry men.

Best Kept Secret Let Out: Wunmi Mosaku Announces Pregnancy

Sinners star Wunmi Mosaku revealed she was pregnant with her second child, debuting her baby bump on the red carpet in a golden gown fitting for the occasion.

Timed to her arrival at the ceremony, Vogue shared an essay from the actress detailing why she chose the moment to share her pregnancy with the world.

“I’ve been advised to get ahead of speculation and questions. Keen eyes mean speculation has already begun. Is she pregnant? Has she gained weight? What’s with the outfit?” she wrote. “Truthfully, I’d love to just show up as me — a woman who happens to be pregnant — celebrating our powerful film and our amazing team, while I protect this most sacred prayer of my life.”

Mosaku continued: “I’ve decided to stop trying to camouflage my bump today at the Golden Globes, so me and baby can truly enjoy and embrace the moment fully together.”

Best Comeback Hairstyle: The Mullet

It’s safe to say that the ’80s mullet is trending in Hollywood again. Stars like Connor Storrie, Glen Powell, Jacob Elordi, Patrick Schwarzenegger and SEVENTEEN’s Joshua cleaned up nice, arriving on the red carpet looking dashing — business in the front with a party in the back.

Best Opening Monologue… Maybe Ever?

Nikki Glaser might have delivered a no-notes monologue last year, but she knocked it out of the park her second time around, landing joke after joke about everyone in the venue — and out. She managed to blast CBS News, owned by the network televising the Globes, in her gauntlet of roasts.

“And the award for most editing goes to CBS News,” Glaser joked. “Yes, CBS News, America’s newest place to see BS news. We needed another.”

Then, she made her rounds in the room, cracking jokes about everyone, including Leonardo DiCaprio for his tendency to date younger women.

The comedian added, “Leo, I’m sorry I made that joke, it’s cheap. I tried not to but, you know, we don’t know anything else about you, man. There’s nothing else, open up.”

Oops, We Left the Playlist on Shuffle: The Perplexing Background Music

What happened behind the DJ booth during the 2026 Golden Globes had viewers scratching their heads. It seemed like the music coordinator put a pop music playlist on shuffle to play after someone won an award or finished their speech. For example, Best Supporting Actor winner Stellan Skarsgård, 74, approached the stage soundtracked by Usher’s “Yeah!” Amy Poehler won Best Podcast to the sound of BTS’ “Dynamite.” Bizarrely, Adolescence accepted its last Globe of the night to Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic.”

Oops, Someone Has a Potty Mouth: These Celebrities Were Caught Swearing

Because it’s live television, the risk of an uncensored f-bomb is unlikely, but never zero. Previously in the broadcast, Teyana Taylor got censored during her acceptance speech for saying, “this s— is heavy” in reference to her trophy. Snoop Dogg, while presenting the inaugural Best Podcast category, told the audience he was “high as a motherf—– right now.”

“Y’all had me here too damn long,” he said.

On the other hand, Erin Doherty did not have the luxury of having her f-bomb bleeped. “I made a promise to my mum I would not say f—,” the Best Supporting Actress on Television winner said, with every word except “f—” censored.

Oops, There’s a Scheduling Conflict: Winners Who Couldn’t Make It Tonight

Best Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television winner Michelle Williams could not attend — she is appearing in a limited run of the play Anna Christie in Brooklyn, N.Y., through Feb. 1 — so presenters Melissa McCarthy and Kathryn Hahn accepted on her behalf.

Meanwhile, presenter Wanda Sykes promised that if Ricky Gervais — who was not at the ceremony — won Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television, she would accept on his behalf by thanking God and the trans community. Gervais, who chose not to show up tonight, has drawn backlash in the past for transphobic jokes in his stand-up routines.

Best Moment for the Internet: The ‘Heated Rivarly’ Guys Are a Bit Shy

Heated Rivalry took the world by storm at the tail-end of 2025, and its stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams are still riding the wave — all the way to the Globes stage as presenters! Poking fun at their newbie status, Storrie acted starstruck during their bit, in which they alluded to the steaminess of their hit show.

“Picture everyone in the audience, you know… [naked],” Williams told his costar.

“Yeah, I don’t really know if that works considering everyone’s seen us, you know… [naked],” Storrie responded.

Worst Night to Not Be There to Eavesdrop: All the Celebrity Interactions

The rare night in Hollywood bringing together movie and TV stars often spawns some of the most intriguing celebrity interactions. See here: Jennifer Lawrence fraternizing with Kylie Jenner, who came as her partner Timothée Chalamet’s date for the night.

We’d also love to listen in on whatever Oscar winners Julia Roberts and Leonardo DiCaprio are gabbing about during the commercial break, or hear the conversation between generational heartthrobs George Clooney and Paul Mescal.

Most Meta Win: ‘The Studio’ Comes to Life

Seth Rogen.

After a memorable episode satirizing the industry politics of awards shows — specifically, the Golden Globes — Seth Rogen’s The Studio won Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy. In the eighth episode of the first season, Rogen’s character goes to great lengths to get a fictionalized version of Zoë Kravitz to thank him in her acceptance speech. (Spoiler: He goes home empty-handed, but Sal Saperstein wins big!)

Worst Path to the Stage

It took an astronomical amount of time for winners to make their way to the stage, starting with Taylor and Skarsgård at the top of show and continuing until the end, when Wagner Moura had to cross an ocean to accept his award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture — Drama.

“Half of our writers are at table one and other half are at table 228, but they made it,” Rogen teased as The Studio accepted Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy.

Best Stage Presence: Julia Roberts Gets a Standing Ovation

Julia Roberts is your favorite movie star’s favorite movie star. Shortly after Jessie Buckley gushed over her fellow nominee in her Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama acceptance speech, Roberts came out to present Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy. She arrived onstage to rapturous applause, and the three-time Golden Globe winner couldn’t hide how flattered she was.

“I’m going to be impossible for a week,” she said.

Worst Time Management: The Globes Go Over Time

Nikki Glaser.

As per usual, no awards show ends on time. This year’s Globes ran about 20 minutes past the 11 p.m. ET mark, and Glaser cheekily remarked at the end of the ceremony: “This one went to 11.” (It’s the truth, kind of!)
