A Texas convenience store clerk working alone overnight was attacked by a man she had just helped, according to prosecutors.

Logan Michael Parker, 23, was sentenced to two concurrent life terms after a Montgomery County jury found him guilty of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping in connection with the April 2025 attack, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

Shortly after midnight on April 10, 2025, Parker walked into a Circle K gas station on SH 105 to buy a drink. When his card was declined, the clerk voided the transaction and used her employee discount so he could leave with the drink without paying, according to prosecutors.

Minutes later, Parker returned to the business, parked behind the store and turned off his headlights, according to the district attorney’s office.

Prosecutors said Parker forced the pregnant woman into a restroom, threatened her life and sexually assaulted her before stealing her cellphone and fleeing.

After the attack, prosecutors said the woman stayed out of sight inside the store until she felt it was safe to emerge and approach arriving customers for help. One of those customers called 911 right away.

“The facts of this case are difficult to read because they reveal calculated evil,” District Attorney Mike Holley said in a statement. “A woman showed this defendant compassion. He repaid that kindness by returning to the store and committing an unspeakable act of violence against the very person who helped him.”

Conroe police were dispatched to the gas station around 1:30 a.m. local time, according to a department release issued in April 2025. Responding officers located the 23-year-old woman inside the store, where she was visibly distraught and told police she had been sexually assaulted, according to authorities.

Officers arranged for her to receive medical attention while beginning an investigation that included securing the scene, searching for evidence and reviewing surveillance footage, according to police.

Investigators identified Parker as the suspect and located his vehicle within hours, tracking it to a nearby location where officers detained him, according to the initial press release.

Parker was interviewed by detectives at the Conroe Police Department before being arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault, police said.

“This case was built on three things: a survivor’s courage, exceptional police work, and the facts,” Chief Prosecutor Laura Hill said in a statement.

More than a year after the attack, Parker’s case went before a Montgomery County jury.

Jurors returned guilty verdicts on Aug. 5, 2026, following a multi-day trial, and sentenced Parker to two concurrent life terms, according to the district attorney’s office.

“The Conroe Police Department conducted an outstanding investigation, and the evidence left no question about who committed these crimes,” Hill said. “The jury recognized that, and because of their verdict, a dangerous offender has been removed from our community.”

Parker will not be eligible for parole for at least 30 years, according to the district attorney’s office.

“Thanks to extraordinary courage of the survivor, the outstanding work of the Conroe Police Department, and the commitment of Chief Prosecutor Laura Hill, Division Chief Shanna Redwine, and the entire prosecution team, this defendant will spend at least the next three decades behind bars before he is eligible for parole,” Holley said.

PEOPLE reached out to the Conroe Police Department for comment following the verdict.
