Swift performed her latest song ‘I Knew, I Knew You’ and beloved tracks ‘August’ and ‘All Too Well’

Taylor Swift is still living for the hope of it all.
After a discussion with Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. for the Grammy Museum’s Icon Sessions, presented by the Recording Academy’s Songwriters & Composers Wing, the 14-time Grammy winner, 36, sat down at a piano that fans know all too well. Swift played the wooden instrument decorated with colorful flowers every night during the surprise song portion of her Eras Tour shows.
She began the medley with “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which was recently recorded for the Toy Story 5 soundtrack. The song then flowed into her folklore era hit “August,” before transitioning to the 2021 extended version of her song “All Too Well,” which first appeared on her 2012 album Red.
The emotional mashup marked her first public performance following her July 1 wedding to Travis Kelce. It was a combination of three different eras of her artistic and personal life, spanning heartbreak, hope and love.
The lyrics she chose to blend marked a new conclusion to both “All Too Well” and “August,” instead ending on a happier note seemingly done to subtly reference Swift’s newlywed life.

“Remember when I pulled up and said, ‘Get in the car,’ then canceled my plans just in case you’d call. Back when I was living for the hope of it all,” Swift sang from “August,” before transitioning into the new track from Toy Story 5.
When Mason asked Swift about writing from a third person perspective or that of a character as she did on folklore, Swift said that album helped her prepare for “I Knew It, I Knew You.”
“Oh, it was extremely different for me,” Swift explained before her performance. “Sort of a like a pressure release valve. It was it was an escape into my imagination. It was all of a sudden I was walking on a a cliffside and looking at the ocean instead of just being at home.”
“And and it was it it was lot of things all at once,” Swift continued. “But with folklore I was oftentimes creating the character and creating different characters who were interacting with each other and that was really fun. I just got to write in character for Toy Story 5 which was such a blast.”
Swift added that Jesse from the Toy Story films is a character she has loved for “years and years and years.”
Swift also spoke about how “All Too Well,” which was never released as a single from Red’s original album cycle. However, it has always been a song that she is “really proud of.” She said that fans connecting with the song nearly a decade after its release prompted her to release the 10-minute version.
“It’s always been sort of like powered by fans caring about this song,” Swift explained. “And so you know all the iterations of it really speak to the fact that you know when they love something that passionately I’m going to listen to that.”
Swift wore a chiffon sage green dress with crimson red floral detailing, and wore her hair in an updo reminiscent of the album artwork for 2020’s folklore, sporting her signature red lip for the performance, appearing to self-reference several of her own eras.

On July 1, Swift wed Kelce, 36, at Madison Square Garden in New York City in a star-studded ceremony.
The couple went public with their relationship in 2023 after Swift attended one of Kelce’s home games with the Kansas City Chiefs. Kelce was later spotted in the audience supporting the pop star at several stops on the Eras Tour.
