Sarah Snook took a page out of Taylor Swift’s book when she began preparing to make her Broadway debut.
The Emmy-winning Succession actress, 37, is currently starring in The Picture of Dorian Gray on Broadway. The production is an innovative one, requiring Snook to play all 26 characters, including the title character who trades his soul for eternal youth.
Snook spoke to The New Yorker about how she keeps herself fit and healthy while having to take on such an active performance in the show — and revealed that she learned a lesson from Swift’s Eras Tour regimen.
“The show is so athletic. What is your regimen?” the magazine asked Snook.
“No alcohol, no caffeine. Sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep. And I do my lines at pace on a treadmill, you know,” she replied, before the outlet likened the routine to Swift’s viral tour workout.
“I heard that and thought, ‘That’s a genius idea,’ ” Snook said of Swift’s workout regimen. “I’m gonna do that.”

In an interview with Time last year, Swift, 35, confirmed that she began a rigorous workout routine six months prior to her first Eras Tour show in March 2023. Her viral routine included singing the full setlist from the tour while running on the treadmill.
Swift said she would run ”fast for fast songs, and a jog or a fast walk for slow songs” to prepare for her three-hour sets.
The pop superstar also shared that she would have “dead days” in between shows, where she would rest up as much as possible. She also revealed that she doesn’t drink while on tour and that she was “working out in between shows [in order to] keep my strength and stamina up,” especially when performing multiple days in a row.
“I do not leave my bed except to get food and take it back to my bed and eat it there,” Swift told Time of her days off. “It’s a dream scenario, [and] I can barely speak because I’ve been singing for three shows straight. Every time I take a step, my feet go crunch, crunch, crunch from dancing in heels. But it’s the most fulfilled I’ve ever felt.”

Elsewhere in her conversation with The New Yorker, Snook shared that she signed on to star in Dorian Gray — which had a run in London’s West End (earning Snook an Olivier Award) before coming to Broadway — when her daughter was just 6 months old.
“So what about having a 6-month-old made you think, I need a challenge?” the magazine asked, to which Snook joked: “I had already agreed!”
“My husband has said, if either of us had seen the show, he would have convinced me not to do it,” she continued. “He’s already got a kid. He knew how hard it was going to be. Ignorance is bliss. You go, ‘Oh, this will be fine.’ ”

The actress previously revealed in May 2023 that she welcomed her first baby, a daughter, with husband Dave Lawson in an Instagram post featuring a photo of herself and her newborn watching the finale of her hit HBO series.
“But I think, to be honest, probably just in the framework of living as straight and narrow as possible— that probably wouldn’t be possible without a baby,” Snook told the magazine. “It’s valuing sleep, needing to keep nutrition up, because she’s taking a lot of it from breastfeeding. Keeping myself healthy for being a new mom also kept myself healthy for doing this marathon.”
“Otherwise, it’s very easy to go, ‘Had a big night tonight. Yeah, I’ll have a drink. Yeah, I’ll have a glass of wine,’ ” she continued. “And then you’re going to bed at five and sleeping until three. With a baby, you cannot do that.”
