NEED TO KNOW

  • Sterling Point season 1 premiered on Aug. 5 with all eight episodes
  • The finale unveils family secrets, including the identity of Ramona’s biological dad
  • Annie, Ramona and Connor make a decision about whether to sell or keep the island

The Sterling Point season 1 finale was unexpected in different ways.

Prime Video’s new coming-of-age series — which released all of its eight episodes on Aug. 5 — follows twins Annie (Ella Rubin) and Connor (Keen Ruffalo) who were raised in New York City and inherit a Canadian island, Sterling Point, from their mysterious grandfather.

But when the siblings arrive at their late grandfather’s cabin, they encounter Ramona (Amélie Hoeferle), who was also named as an heir to the property. The situation becomes more complicated when Ramona informs Annie and Connor that she is their late adoptive mother’s biological daughter, making her their half-sister.

With that, the trio spend the summer getting to know one another, while making new friends, developing romances and investigating family secrets.

So, where do Annie, Connor, Ramona and the rest of the Sterling Point characters end up in the finale? Here’s everything to know about how Sterling Point season 1 ended.

Family secrets finally come to light at the end of Sterling Point’s debut season.

Ramona discovers her biological dad is Steven (Jay Duplass), Annie and Connor’s adoptive father.

Annie and Connor also learn their late mother, Goldie, had an affair with a man named Joe (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Goldie had planned to leave Steven and raise all of her kids in Sterling Point before she died.

While some secrets were unveiled, others were only starting to unravel — Connor decides to search for his and Annie’s biological parents, but he doesn’t tell Annie about it.

Meanwhile, Annie’s romances with Rory (Daniel Quinn-Toye) and Ellis (Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie) are left up in the air.

For now, Annie, Connor and Ramona still own Sterling Point; Annie remains on the island, while Ramona moves to N.Y.C.

Annie doesn’t end up in a relationship with either Rory or Ellis by the season 1 finale.

Her love triangle remains as such after having romantic moments with each of them throughout the summer — but there were also confusing instances.

Earlier on, in episode 5, Rory’s connection with Annie intensified when he took her out to a club for her birthday. After their night out, they slept together.

Rory also confided in Annie about why he stopped playing the piano, which he said was due to his insecurity about a younger pianist being better than him, so he asked his cousin to break his hand.

However, in episode 7, Annie finds Rory at the piano after he claimed he could no longer play. This awkward moment puts a crack in Rory’s authenticity.

Meanwhile, Annie and Ellis finally kiss in a closet after a long period of tension building up to it.

Afterward, Annie opens up about her feelings for Ellis in a conversation with Ramona, causing Annie to reevaluate what she wants.

Now that Annie has decided to spend more time in Sterling Point, though, Ellis may have a leg up in the race for her heart in terms of proximity.

In the finale, Ramona discovers that her biological dad is Steven through a paternity test.

She also learns more about her mother’s death: Joe tells Annie that Goldie had a heart condition and she died while delivering Ramona via C-section.

Before this news, there were signs that pointed toward Joe being Ramona’s father. After Goldie’s death, Ramona was raised by her grandfather, who then appointed Joe as her guardian upon his own passing.

In addition, Annie, Ramona and Ellis find out Joe dated their mom and that he was at the hospital the night she died while giving birth to Ramona.

Meanwhile, the possibility that Joe may be Ramona’s father causes his marriage to implode.

There’s also high tension between Steven and Joe throughout the season, which peaks in episode 6 when Steven confronts Joe.

After Joe claims Goldie never loved Steven, they get into a physical fight, which leaves Steven with a black eye.

Eventually, Ramona connects the dots that her colorblindness may be a genetic trait inherited from Steven.

Both Ramona and Steven’s colorblindness is revealed through their mismatched socks.

When Ramona realizes that Annie organizes her dad’s socks so he doesn’t mix them up, she asks Steven to do a DNA test.

Ramona had no intention of selling Sterling Point when Annie first arrived on the island.

Eventually, though, Ramona decides to sell her share after learning that Steven is her father and Oona (Bo Bragason) breaks up with her.

Connor then reminds Ramona of Denise’s (Missi Pyle) offer to buy the island from them. This prompts Annie to ask Ramona to wait a year before they sell the island, and Ramona agrees.

By summer’s end, Ramona and Annie switch places to embark on new chapters.

Ramona wakes up in Annie’s room in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she will live with Steven and get to know her biological father.

Annie wakes up in Ramona’s bed in Sterling Point, where she can continue to embrace a fresh start outside of the city.
