Sophia Bush is cherishing her time working on the One Tree Hill reboot.
Bush, 42, joined Glee alumni Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz on the Dec. 11 episode of their podcast And That’s What You REALLY Missed. While there, she chatted about the reboot — which she and Hilarie Burton teased on Instagram in August.
“I will say is it has been the most inclusive process,” Bush said. “And that is something I really cherish.”

“What’s been really special is to be able to be in the sort of original group of our family. And hear everyone’s excitement and everyone’s trepidation and why people are into it and why they’re afraid of it and what they would want and what they would need,” she said.
“The thing that I think is the coolest is, you know, everyone’s gone on to write, produce, direct, be so creative,” she said, adding that it’s been “really beautiful” for her to partner with her friends and, in turn, learn “from amazing women.”
Bush, who played Brooke Davis on all nine seasons of the WB show, said she loves to see “what everyone wants their characters to be doing now.” Bush starred alongside Burton, Bethany Joy Lenz, Chad Michael Murray and James Lafferty.
“Even if through this development process, let’s say we don’t wind up shooting this thing. What it’s given me — the world-building I’ve seen — from all the women and all the men who helped build the show from the first season, it’s like my heart feels really full,” she added.
“I feel like I’ve gotten to see it, even if no one else ever does,” she said. “And that’s the thing that I cherish.” Noting that since watching the showrunner develop the characters’ present-day lives, she has been able to answer common fan questions, including “What do you think your characters are doing now?”
“So wherever it goes, it’s really been a gift,” she added.
In August, Bush and Burton confirmed they will produce a new revival of the hit 2000s series with former costar Danneel Ackles. However, the pair have remained tight-lipped about the reboot since then.
Bush told PEOPLE in September that they “can’t tell anyone anything” quite yet. Meanwhile, Burton told PEOPLE the reboot differs from filming the original series and that the characters and stories are being told “through a female lens.”
