Sister Wives: Kody Brown Admits He and Wife Robyn Are ‘Fighting for Our Marriage’, Asks If They’re ‘the One’ for Each Other

Kody Brown has admitted that he and wife Robyn Brown are “fighting for our marriage” and battling their way out of “toxic” patterns after his three divorces.

On the latest episode of Sister Wives, the couple sat down together for a “health check-up” on their relationship after riding ATVs at the same spot where Robyn took a scary spill last season.

In a confessional, Kody revealed that he and Robyn not only were “fighting for our marriage” following his divorces from Janelle, Christine and Meri, but also their life together.

“We have been going through four years or more of breakup with the family,” Kody explained. He then admitted that their relationship is “great” when he is being himself.

Robyn explained in a separate confessional that their relationship has become a roller coaster of emotion for Kody in wake of the divorces. 

“We go through these periods where he is back to himself and we are like who we usually are in our relationship and it’s really beautiful, and we’re having a great time,” she explained. 

“And then,” Robyn added, “something will happen and he’s kind of back to, he reverts back to the angry divorced guy.”

During their sit-down, Kody asked Robyn if they both felt like they are “the one” for each other, and Robyn urged him not to second-guess their connection.

“I’m absolutely confident, Kody, and I don’t want you questioning that,” she said while tearing up. She later noted that divorce can “scramble” up the brain.

“It’s not normal to go through a divorce or divorces while you’re still married,” she told her husband. “It’s a very toxic time.”

In his own confessional, Kody compared their situation to a phoenix. “This life that we had before has been kind of burned down,” he explained. “I’m burning it all down so that I forget it.”

But, he continued, “I want to remember it and cherish it and move forward with the lessons that I learned from it in a relationship that is very beautiful, very safe, very whole.”

Kody hoped some of his most recent actions “may have helped, and have helped” the trajectory of their relationship. And Robyn agreed.

“Taking accountability for his part in the marriages falling apart I think was something that gave him some peace and it’ll help in his healing,” she said in a confessional. “But then I also just see him just kind of taking a sigh of relief.”

Kody thanked Robyn for “being loyal” to him during this tumultuous time. In fact, he felt he owed her an apology like the ones he offered to his ex wives. In the last episodes, he met with each wife individually to apologize for his actions during their breakup and at the end of their marriage.

“I haven’t been very fair with you,” Kody conceded. “I’ve been apologizing to everybody in spite of all how brutal they were … but you were never brutal. You were never unkind. You were never disloyal. I’ve been apologizing to everybody. I think I owe you an apology most of all.”

He later added, “I apologize for not trusting you, but you have my trust,” to which Robyn replied, “You have mine.”

Then Kody posed a question to Robyn that he did not ask any of his three ex wives during his apology tour: “Do you forgive me?”

“Yes, I did as it was happening,” Robyn answered tearfully, later noting that she had “a lot of charity” for her husband after experiencing her own divorce prior to their marriage.

“I know how toxic it can get,” she explained, recalling her own divorce, which Kody said was a “crazy” and “scary” time.

Kody reflected on his own divorces in a confessional, and lamented how messy the breakups became. “It would have just been better to have broken up with grace,” he admitted.

Regarding his apologies, Kody hoped they were “a step to a happier future with everybody.”
