Selma Blair has been able to lean on her son through a challenging time.
The actress, 52, spoke with Travel + Leisure for their March cover story and shared that she’s been enjoying spending time with her son Arthur, 13, amid her multiple sclerosis diagnosis. The pair, who just got back from Paris, France, took in the city every day, which Blair says would not have been part of her typical routine.
“We recently did Paris, and when we got off the plane, he’s like, ‘We’re going out,’ ” Blair, who has been open about her MS diagnosis, remembers her son saying. “Normally I would’ve gone to bed, but having a child who likes to walk, shop and see the cool things gets me to go out.”

However, the two definitely enjoy time staying in while on vacation together.
“When he was about 2, I remember being in a hotel and he picked up the phone and said, ‘Hello, French Fry Guy, can you send us some french fries?’ ” Blair shares. “He thought that no matter what number you dialed on the phone, it was room service. So, he definitely appreciates the finer things.”
In February, Blair spoke with Today about how her diagnosis has impacted her while raising her son as a single mom. In the interview, Blair spoke candidly about living with the disease and all the ways she’s working to raise awareness and destigmatize it.

“I think since I had him I’d been afflicted with MS, and I didn’t know [because] I was diagnosed later,” the Cruel Intentions star began. “My fatigue was always the main issue and as any parent knows, especially a single parent, there’s no room for extra fatigue.”
The actress said that she’s always had to find and connect with other people for tips and tricks on how to handle things, like her fatigue. She continued, adding that she always had to ask the question, “How do you do this?” when raising her son.
“I had to ask advice for everything,” she told Today, adding, that she’s now “in a good spot.”
This past December, Blair shared a rare photo of herself and her son Arthur on Instagram as they posed together in front of their Christmas tree with their two dogs. Blair could be seen leaning into her son, wearing a red-striped sweater.
Arthur, meanwhile, held one of their dogs in his lap and stared into the camera, wearing festive pajamas. “This is Christmas Eve 2024. All is calm. All bright. 🎄💋🥁,” Blair captioned the photo.
