NEED TO KNOW

  • General Hospital has seen cast changes in 2026, with 11 actors departing, including longtime stars Jon Lindstrom and Kirsten Storms
  • Several exits left storylines open for potential returns
  • However, two characters were killed off in the ABC series

Port Charles has recently said goodbye to some of its favorite residents — and villains.

At least 11 actors have exited General Hospital since January 2026, including longtime stars like Jon Lindstrom and Kirsten Storms.

But on the ABC soap, where characters have a habit of returning from the dead, cast shakeups simply come with the territory.

“When you inherit so much history and so many front-loaded characters and stories, you can’t just abandon them,” executive producer Frank Valentini told the Associated Press in April 2023. “You don’t burn the ship. You turn it around.”

So, who has left Port Charles so far this year? Here’s a look at every actor who has exited General Hospital in 2026.

Six years after General Hospital fans said goodbye to Ethan Lovett, Nathan Dean returned to the soap for a brief stint.

The actor reprised the role for a few months — during which Christian Howard took over — before the character was written off once again in August 2026, per Entertainment Weekly.

Dean told TV Insider the previous month that he was initially asked to return for three years, but couldn’t make that commitment for personal reasons.

In the show, Ethan flees Port Charles under mysterious circumstances, leaving plenty of opportunity for him to come back once again.

Storms retired her starring, decades-long role as Maxie Jones in July 2026, with her character relocating to Australia with Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and their kids.

The departure followed a temporary absence the actress took from General Hospital in 2025 when she moved to Tennessee. Storms started reappearing in episodes in February 2026.

Spinelli’s relocation to Australia meant that Anderson also exited the show in July 2026 with Storms.

The actor spoke about his character’s trajectory in an episode of Stone Cold and The Jackal that same month, telling with his co-host and former castmate Steve Burton, who plays Jason Morgan on the show, that he would like to continue to be on-screen in some capacity.

“Why can’t I be in your head, dude?” he said. “Or somebody’s head … Put me in someone’s head!”

Gary James Fuller as James West

In July 2026, James West was recast after young actor Gary James Fuller — who had played the character since 2023 — injured himself on a bicycle, per Soap Opera Digest.

Easton Winn took over the role for two episodes, until James moved to Australia with his mother, Maxie, and Spinelli.

“Thanks for taking such good care of James while I was away,” Fuller wrote in an Instagram post addressed to Winn. “It makes me really happy to see the character I love getting to play in such good hands.”

Marc Forget as Pascal Leveque

Since July 2025, Marc Forget has terrorized Port Charles as Jenz Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) butler Pascal Leveque.

After holding Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) captive and psychologically torturing Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), the slick employee was finally stopped after Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) framed him for the murder of his boss’ son.

Pascal fled, and Port Charles said goodbye to one of its most horrific bad guys — for now. Though Soap Opera Digest confirmed that Forget was written off the show, a rep for the soap noted that a future return was possible.

After playing Kristina Corinthos-Davis for three years, Kate Mansi made the “very difficult decision” to leave General Hospital in March 2023.

The actress shared the news with SoapSteph’’s Daytime Dish, citing new projects and a need for travel flexibility while her husband films abroad.

“I’m incredibly grateful to Frank, ABC, and our writers for the care they gave Kristina,” Mansi said. “It’s been such a meaningful and unforgettable ride. I’ve loved being a fiery Corinthos-Davis girl in such a phenomenal family.”

Valentini told Daytime Dish that “the door is always open” for a comeback.

Cosette Abinante exited General Hospital in June 2026 after her character, Scout Cain, was recast.

According to Soap Opera Digest, Kayden Brenna Tokarski took over the role to age up Scout, who was born on-screen in 2017.

The young actress joined the cast as Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) daughter in 2022.

Though he reprised his role as Dr. Kevin Collins in December 2025, Linstrom wrapped his brief stint the following January, per Soap Opera Digest.

The short return was reportedly planned as such due to the actor’s starring spot on CBS’ Beyond the Gates.

In March 2026, Adrian Anchondo’s character, Marco Rios, was written off following a fatal stabbing at the hands of Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).

The actor, who joined the soap just a year prior, told TV Insider that there were “signs” in August 2025 that Marco might not make it.

“I tried to ignore them, but it did make me feel like it was less a question of if and more of when and how it would happen,” Anchondo said. “So, I just tried to give it my all.”

He continued, “All I could do is be kind and giving to the people I worked with and know that I have no control and that I can’t take it personally.”

Not long after his character killed Marco, Hawkes’ character also died.

In a July 2026 episode, Ross died in a shooting — bringing the actor’s brief stint on General Hospital to an end.

However, he’d come back from the dead “in a heartbeat” if the opportunity presents itself.

“It’s been one of the greatest experiences of my career,” Hawkes told Soap Opera Digest at the time. “It’s one of the things I’m most proud of and have had the most joy in doing.”

Ryan Paevey as Cassius Faison

Ryan Paevey surprised fans when he returned to Port Charles in September 2025, seven years after his character, Nathan West, was killed off.

But his role as Nathan’s twin brother, Cassius Faison, was always supposed to be short-lived, and the actor exited General Hospital once again in July 2026, per Soap Opera Digest.

But this time, his character wasn’t killed off. Though Cassius was injured during the shootout that killed Ross, he survived and was offered a job by WSB director Z (John Oliver). The ambiguous ending means that the door is open for Paevey to return.
