Another production of Romeo & Juliet has hit Broadway.
The latest take on the Shakespeare classic stars Heartstopper‘s Kit Connor and West Side Story‘s Rachel Zegler as the eponymous star-crossed lovers. A month after launching previews on Sept. 26, Romeo & Juliet began its official run on Thursday, Oct. 24. The play also features Tommy Dorfman, Gabby Beans, Nihar Duvvuri, Jasai Chase-Owens, Daniel Bravo Hernández, Solá Fádìran, Taheen Modak and Gían Pérez, with direction by Tony winner Sam Gold and music by Jack Antonoff.
“The youth are f——,” a plot synopsis for the new interpretation reads. “Left to their own devices in their parents’ world of violent ends, an impulsive pair of star-crossed lovers hurtle towards their inescapable fate. The intoxicating high of passion quickly descends into a brutal chaos that can only end one way.”
