Scheana Shay is mourning the loss of a beloved family member — her 17-year-old cat, Penny Lane.
On Wednesday, Aug. 12, the 41-year-old Vanderpump Rules alum took to Instagram to announce that Penny had died two nights prior “at home in her favorite spot — in front of the fireplace.” She paired the announcement with a multitude of photos of her pet, including several of them together and some of the special cat with Shay’s daughter, Summer Moon Honey Davies, whom she shares with husband Brock Davies.
“17 years with my sweet girl and it still wasn’t enough,” Shay mourned in a heartfelt tribute.
She continued, writing, “I’ve experienced a lot of loss in my life, but this has been a unique kind of pain—one I’ve never known before. Penny Lane has been the constant through so many seasons of my life.”
“ From a tiny apartment in Hollywood, to the Vegas Strip, then the Marina, the desert, the beach in San Diego, and finally the Valley here in Los Angeles…she was there for all of it. The things she has seen…. people would pay good money for 😹,” she joked.

Shay noted that Penny had been by her side while she was single, married, when she suffered a miscarriage and became a mother. She was even there through her “divorced-and-desperate era.”
“No matter what life looked like, I was never truly alone, because I always had her by my side,” she reflected.

“She made me the cat lady I am today and even tho I still have 4 cats in my house, I feel a hole in my heart and house. I miss her nighttime meows, her wet little nose nudging me and her constantly wanting to make an appearance in every cameo video I do at home,” the Bravo star added, signing off, “Until we meet again sweet Penny…. 😽.”
The final image in Shay’s post was an AI-generated picture of Penny with a halo and angel wings reclining on a bed of clouds. “Forever in our hearts,” text underneath the precious pet read, alongside her day of death.
