The NFL is looking into New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch’s link to Jeffrey Epstein.
“Absolutely, we will look at all the facts,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday according to the Associated Press. “We’ll look at the context of those and try to understand that.”
Goodell added, “We’ll look at how that falls under the [league personal conduct] policy. I think we’ll take one step at a time. Let’s get the facts first.”
Tisch’s name appears more than 400 times in a series of email exchanges with Epstein, which were included in the Department of Justice’s Jan. 30 release of more than 3 million files from the criminal investigation into the disgraced financier.
In emails sent in 2013, Tisch, 76, received updates from Epstein regarding multiple women.
“I can invite the [Russian] … to meet if you like,” Epstein wrote to the film producer in May 2013. One minute later, Tisch replied, “Is she fun?”
Following the release of the various email exchanges, the Giants released a statement on the co-owner’s behalf.
“We had a brief association where we exchanged emails about adult women, and in addition, we discussed movies, philanthropy, and investments,” the statement read, according to The Atlantic. “I did not take him up on any of his invitations and never went to his island. As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with.”
Epstein was arrested in July 2019 and charged with sex trafficking of minors. One month later, the 66-year-old died in an apparent suicide while awaiting trial at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City.
On Monday, Giants backup quarterback Russell Wilson also denied a connection with Epstein after his name was mentioned in emails regarding an alleged purchase of a Gulfstream jet.
“NOPE!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT! Not TODAY satan!” Wilson, 37, wrote on X, while resharing a since-deleted post about his name appearing in an email exchange with Epstein. “Some Random plane broker tried to sell me a plane. I had no idea whose plane and never bought the plane. Never talked nor Never met the man. Thank God !!!”
