Mia Thornton is kicking off her 2025 with a new start.
The Real Housewives of the Potomac star, 40, announced on Dec. 31, 2024 that she has split from her boyfriend Incognito, whom she had been dating for the last year.
Speculation that the two had broken up began after Mia shared a New Year’s Eve selfie with her ex-husband Gordon Thornton. The former couple — who share children Jeremiah, 9 and daughter Juliana, 7 — separated in June 2023 after 11 years of marriage, but have not yet finalized their divorce.
“NEW Year. New Beginnings,” Mia wrote in the caption of their smiling shot. “Cheers to living life to the fullest 🥂 #momanddad #nye2025.”
On her Instagram Story, Mia shared another peek into her intimate celebrations, and she and Gordon had breakfast together with their two children at a restaurant “in the mountains.”
Fans soon noticed that Mia and incognito had unfollowed one another on social media. And while representatives for both Mia and Incognito did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment, the reality star did confirm their breakup to The Shade Room.
“Inc is my best friend and perfect in so many ways, but I have decided to focus on my children and maintaining a healthy co-parenting relationship with their father,” she told the outlet.
Mia and Incognito’s split surely will come as a surprise to RHOP fans. On the ninth season of the hit series — which is currently airing Sunday nights on Bravo — Mia has often boasted about their love, hinting that Incognito is endgame. She even made him part of her official tagline.
“Marriage can be temporary, but Inc is permanent,” she said of the Atlanta-based radio personality, who hosts Posted on the Corner alongside DJ Misses.
The two were high school sweethearts and rekindled their romance amid Mia’s split from Gordon. They’ve been seemingly inseparable since, posing for romantic pics together on social media and appearing together on red carpets.
They were even talking about having kids together, Mia telling The Daily Dish in November that “Inc does want more children.”
“We’re gonna take our time, and I’m not opposed to having a surrogate, but he wants me to carry. And he wants to have two more, so pray for me,” she said. “We’re taking our time, and when the time comes we will make that decision. But I’m definitely exploring options, like freezing my eggs and things like that. Because you know my biological clock is ticking. It might have tocked.”
While at Bravo Fan Fest in late November, Mia gushed to PEOPLE about Incognito, praising him as a partner.
“I love everything about him. He’s so amazing. He’s just such a beautiful person and he radiates positivity and love and support,” she taid. “He’s bringing me closer to my faith. He’s a man of God. So that’s really what I have not experienced in my previous marriage.”
The reality star emphasized the widespread support she received from him and highlighted how their relationship was different than those she had experienced in the past.
“He shows up for the kids. He shows up for my career. He shows up to every aspect of life and finally, there’s no mess,” she said, joking that that, “Gordon was definitely our eighth Housewife!”
That “mess” is what led to Mia and Gordon’s split in the first place.
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in December 2023, Mia admitted that Gordon’s financial struggles — which became a storyline on RHOP — played a role in their divorce. “Yeah, that has a lot to do with it, for sure,” Mia told host Andy Cohen, noting his battle with his brothers over their business, The Joint Chiropractic, caused strain for the couple and that they were “literally living off our savings.”
Going to therapy on camera also made their relationship “worse,” Mia said. The “breaking point,” Mia noted, was when Gordon gave an interview to TMZ in which he talked about their sex life.

Not long after that, at the RHOP season 8 reunion that aired in April 2024, Gordon revealed he was diagnosed with bipolar I — a mental health condition (also known as manic-depressive disorder) that causes “extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression),” according to the Mayo Clinic.
He went on to take full responsibility for their split. “I fully believe that had a gotten control of this manic behavior sooner, Mia would still be with me,” he said. “I don’t think she left me because she wanted to be someplace else. She left me because she couldn’t take this anymore.”
“It is what it is,” he added. “I know that things I did pushed her away. I know that. I have no doubt about that.”
