Reese Witherspoon may have had a storied career, but her kids aren’t that impressed.
The actress, 48, spoke with E! News ahead of the release of her new movie, You’re Cordially Invited, and shared that her three kids – daughter Ava, 25, and son Deacon, 21, whom she shares with ex Ryan Phillippe, as well as 12-year-old son Tennessee, whom she shares with ex Jim Toth — aren’t all that interested in watching her films.
“My children actively avoid my work,” Witherspoon told the outlet. “I literally had my son tell me last night that he did not know I made a living being funny. He was like, ‘I just didn’t realize. You’re funny at home — sort of.'”

The star went on to say that after one of her sons saw her new movie, which costars Will Ferrell, he was surprised that the audience was laughing.
“When he sat through the movie, he was like, ‘People were laughing at your stuff,’ ” she remembered. “I was like, ‘Yeah.'”
Although she said her son may have come to terms with the fact that she’s a comedic actor, Witherspoon noted that he still thinks other kids his age won’t feel the same way.
“He told me kids his age won’t want to go see it because we’re old,” the mom of three said. “That’s what he said to me: ‘You’re old. But they’ll love it when they do watch it with their parents.'”
This past Christmas, Witherspoon celebrated the holiday as she shared a series of snaps on Instagram alongside all three of her children.
To start her family-filled post, Witherspoon shared a photo of herself and her kids posing in front of a large Christmas tree. Next, Ava, Deacon and Tennessee could be seen sweetly smiling with their arms around one another at a restaurant table — looking all dressed up and extra grown up.
“Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! 🎄💫❤️,” the proud mom wrote in her caption.
