Ravens Kicker Tyler Loop Hit with Hateful Comments After His Missed Field Goal Knocked Team Out of Playoffs

Baltimore Ravens kicker Tyler Loop was hit with a slew of hateful comments after he missed the field goal that would have advanced his team to the playoffs.

The Ravens lost their final game of the season to Aaron Rodgers’ Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Dec. 4 by a score of 26-24. Baltimore would have won the game if 24-year-old Loop made the 44-yard kick in the final moments, but the rookie was unsuccessful.

After the game, Loop’s Instagram comments were flooded with nasty messages from angry fans. One user spammed the comment section with, “Folks ain’t gone keep being patient with you,” nearly a dozen times, with each comment earning hundreds of likes.

Several users wrote in Loop’s comments that he needed to get a “new job,” mainly on his pinned post announcing his engagement to his fiancée Julia Otto.

Others used expletives and wished bad things on Loop while expressing their disappointment in his missed kick, while some said they feel bad that the rookie kicker is receiving so much hate on social media.

After the missed kick, Loop was seen being comforted by Ravens head coach John Harbaugh as the team made their way back to the locker room. Harbaugh kept his arm around the rookie as they walked and talked through the tunnel.

Loop told reporters after the loss that he’ll continue leaning into his faith to move past the disappointment on Sunday. “Faith is a big part of my life,” Loop said in the locker room. “Right now, I’m reminding myself that God’s got my back even when stuff sucks.”

Quarterback Lamar Jackson was asked about Loop by reporters, revealing that he “was kind of livid when he kicked the ball out of bounds,” but said he told Loop, “You know I’m just hyped based on emotions of the game right now.”

“I felt like it was gonna come down to him winning the game for us at the end,” said Jackson. “Just how the game was going. He’s a rookie. It’s all good. Just leave it in the past, man.”
