Prince Harry believes his late mom, Princess Diana, would have “wanted” him to raise his two kids with Meghan Markle in the United States.
“I feel as though it’s the life that my mom wanted for me,” the Duke of Sussex, who shares Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, with his wife, said at the New York Times DealBook Summit Wednesday.
“To be able to do the things I’m able to do with my kids that I undoubtedly wouldn’t be able to do in the UK, it’s huge,” he added. “I’m hugely grateful for that.”
Harry, 40, said he plans to stay in the US for the long haul and revealed what he enjoys the most about the country.
“I very much enjoy living here and bringing up my kids here,” he said.
“It’s a part of my life that I never thought that I was gonna live.”
The Invictus Games founder and Markle, 43, quit the royal family and moved to North America in 2020.
That summer, the couple, who tied the knot in May 2018, purchased a stunning $14 million home in Montecito, Calif.
This past April, Harry revealed he was considering becoming a US citizen.
“The American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind but is certainly not something that is a high priority for me right now,” he said on “Good Morning America.”
The “Spare” author also said it was “amazing” living on the West Coast with his kids and the “Suits” alum.
“It’s amazing. I love every single day,” he gushed.
That same month, Harry named the US as his official residence in a company filing.
The royal has rarely traveled across the pond since leaving his homeland due to his estrangement from his father, King Charles III, and his older brother, Prince William.
In 2021, Harry and Markle sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which the Duchess of Sussex, who is biracial, claimed members of the royal family had questioned how dark her son Archie’s skin would be when he was born.
The military veteran then released his bombshell memoir in January 2023, in which he wrote candidly about several of his issues with Charles, 76, and William, 42.
Harry has not made amends with his dad because the monarch has not reinstated security detail for him and his family when they travel to the UK.
